Some of the happiest people I know have been through some horrible shit and yet they are still happy and they still have a will to live. So if experience doesn't matter then how come we're different? Are we just weak or is it something else?

Not weak, but rather different.

Just like there are quadriplegic individuals who still want to live and still prefer life over death even in that condition, there exist other quadriplegic individuals who prefer death over living like that.

It's a matter of personal choice imo.

Thats probably a bit of a fallacy. happy people that have been through shit learn to move past it. In a quadriplegics case they cant really move past it. and so the question continues. is suicide weakness when others can circumvent it and live a happy life despite their trauma

I often asked that myself, if we are weak. When I see people that are all paralyzed or people with their bodies all deformed like Ricky Berwick. I often wonder, how do these people find the will to live and to smile. How do they frickin' do it? I would've ctb if I even had 10% of their deformities and health problems. My problems cannot compare to theirs, and yet I strongly want to kill myself. Am I weak, or just with a faulty brain?

Frankly, no idea, everyone's time here is different, if people can find reasons to live and smile thats good on them, but saying that suicidal people are weak because they saw what this world is really like and couldn't bare it is kinda throwing shade at their memory, at least in my opinion

I wonder that too. Of course I have my sob story but It could never compare to what some people live through.

I think a lot depends on the person's situation. Who are they being strong for? There's got to be a reason for it. Maybe those who are able to be strong just feel more reason to be. Maybe they have people who truly love and support them. Maybe they just have a stronger hope that life is still worth fighting for. I'm not sure it's always about strength so much as a sense of purpose.

That's not to belittle people who do fight though. I do admire them. But then, I don't think people who throw in the towel- as it were- have necessarily failed either. That action requires its own strength- to fly in the face of biological/ familial/ societal/ religious norms. That requires it's own strength- I believe to say: 'Sorry but, I'm not willing to put up with this (shit) any longer!'

I think about this a lot. I do think I am. It's an easy way out, part of me says. But then it also must just be the way I/we are made? Also not everything is my fault, I'm about to lose a job due to a merger: I didn't initiate that.
Also, I'm just not that interested in life. I've always just wanted to make it to the end. Never thought enough about how to enjoyably make that happen. At this point I just feel done. I tried. I failed. Maybe I'm weak. I didn't choose to be made this way.

No,we aren't weak at all, there are many reasons to be sad and many more to be happy

And honestly, seeing someone happy or sad doesn't mean much,we never know what is going through their head,we only guess it

no, there is nothing "weak" about being suicidal. it's a purely human experience that many, many people experience. if there is still life to be fulfilled, then you shouldn't kill yourself, but at the same time all people should have a right to choose when and how they die if their lives become unbearable.

That's survivor's bias. A lot of the happiest people you know may have gone through hardship and still be somewhat fine, but it doesn't take in to account all the people who aren't or CTB. We're not weak, just have a different outlook.

Again, No.

Plus, there are indeed individuals who are quadriplegic who managed to move past it, YouTube is your friend in this case.

Also, your view as an individual and the way you look at life plays a huge role whether you choose to move past your trauma or not.

The level of trauma also plays a role, not all traumas are the same. Someone who chooses to live after losing a pet, might choose to CTB after losing a child.

Who determines whether an individual is week to choose suicide? IMO, no one. Cus it's a personal choice, unless we're talking about suicide over silly stuff, like not having the latest iphone or something, but most people here are struggling with one or more serious issues.

I don't believe there are strong or weak people. I think it all depends on a person's perception of themselves, how much they let themselves be influenced by the idea of being strong or weak, and obviously how their environment makes them feel.

No, rather for me ceasing to exist is something positive and I'd always prefer to never suffer again than to suffer so unnecessarily in this torturous, futile existence where there is no limit as to how much one can suffer just to face the agony from old age, existence just feels like a mistake to me and all I hope for is an eternal dreamless sleep where all is gone and forgotten.

Those people are just deceiving their minds, and their survival instinct does the rest.
