Discussion why is there no medical aid in dying for people who are struggling

it's insane to me how there's people genuinly losing their shit day to day and cannot stand to be alive anymore, and once they tell professionals they get locked in a facility where they're just supposed to get better or start appreciating life and then they can get released back into the world like some sort of rescue animal?

there should be a system where like people can go and express that they are suicidal, and maybe they get put in a program for ~2 weeks and by the end if they still decide that they want their life to end they can be supported with medical aid in dying. (the 2 week period is to prevent impulsivity??? i dunno, this isn't something i've been thinking about for a while i just thought id type it out.)

is that crazy to say? i mean people, and lots on this forum aswell are going through with very painful ways just to take their lives anyways. it's sad that there's no peaceful assistance that we can receive

I understand, it truly is so terrible how we exist in this horrific world where the suffering and torture of existing is seen as to force and prolong no matter what, making it illegal to die peacefully is criminal to me, there's just so much horrific extreme cruelty in how humans cannot choose to find true peace from this existence that never should had been imposed at all.

I just always suffer so much as a result of existing in this prison world where humans are forced to suffer for as long as possible, making peaceful death inaccessible only causes way more suffering and torture in this terrible existence where there is no limit as to how much agony one can feel, all I want is to be gone, to permanently cease existing is all I could hope for.

I agree with you on so many levels. But the point of these facilities was (in my opinion) never to make you enjoy life. It was about either making sure that you can go work, or if not possible, take you out of society. It's kind of like a prison from my perspective, all the unfit for work in a facility, isolated.

I believe it is because those higher up want to keep us people at the bottom of the ladder suffering as scapegoats - so they can exert power, control, blame and torture us rather than take accountability for the injustice that goes on in our society. After all we are to blame for wanting to cbt because of our mental health, depression, state of poverty, laziness etc etc - we are even forced to believe it ourselves - when most of the time it is society and the powers that be that have created these things that keep us trapped here suffering - it is for the the good of those in control...we serve a purpose by hanging around so why would they make it easy for us to escape through dying with medical aid?

2-3 weeks? That's nothing. Live longer, meet more people, experience more things, and you will learn that. It's very common for people to go through periods of weeks or months of intense depression & the wish to die… and then things start to shift & they get over it. It can take over a year to recover from something particularly painful or traumatic, so any such program would only make sense for those who have known they want to die for a solid year… and it should take at least six months to complete.

suicide at its core is social murder. how many ppl would kill themselves if they had adequate food, shelter, stable income, genuine community, and real support? that number would drop dramatically.

all suicides are coercions of a broken system to weed out the "undesirables" and are systematic failures. that's why many ppl are against medically assisted euthanasia.

however, I think in spite of that: medically assisted euthanasia should be legal for ppl with terminal illnesses or otherwise. the system will never be fixed, and society is irreversibly fucked from capitalism, global industrialization, and modern medicine (bc at least you'd die before age 20 or so). so if someone of sound mind wants out, they should be given the key to the exit bc they'll likely just kill themselves anyway and unintentionally traumatize their neighbors and friends and anyone who finds them.

the wishful thinking needs to end. like yes just bc I wouldn't commit suicide if society was actually there doesn't mean that I shouldn't commit suicide to end all the suffering society has caused. unless society will be fixed, it should be legal for anyone who wants it.]

the waiting period is a good idea, though I think it should be a month. if you decide no, you can submit another application for medically assisted in six months (to cut down on the paperwork and to give ppl who wanna get in a chance).​

ppl in the medieval times had it better. stable employment, holidays off, when fall and the snow came, they didn't labor (if we're talking ab medieval Europe and fiefdom). they actually could seize the means of production and revolt.

now ppl are too docile and brainwashed to do anything. "political violence doesn't help, and it's wrong" history disagrees, and self-defence isn't wrong. we aren't more civilized than ppl from a hundred years ago.

"we can't afford universal healthcare" while all the money that could afford universal healthcare is going to israel, argentina, our dumbass military, and bombing the shit outta little kids and pregnant women.​
