On instagram this guy said that MAID looks peaceful to others but it's not. You become paralyzed and you suffocate. Specifically he said that your drown in the fluids that build in to your lungs.

He was talking about MAID in Canada and mentioned Midazolam and Propofol.

But it got me wondering… what if Nembutal isn't actually peaceful but just looks peaceful? What if your just paralyzed and can't breath…

The thought of just thinking it would be painless and then being paralyzed and suffocate while you can't scream for help or whatever is just insanely horrifieng. I don't think this is the case though you are brought to sleep beforehand

I think mechanically that is exactly how it works, but you're not supposed to be conscious for it. I think, with MAiD you'd get heavily sedated before getting the barbiturate. If you're doing it yourself, it might be a different story. I remember reading accounts on people ODing on opioids and being aware while they physically couldn't take a breath. Pretty scary, indeed. But the risk has been perceived and thus action can be taken to prevent it from happening.

You do suffocate, technically, but you lose consciousness long before that. It is peaceful for the person dying even if it might sound terrible to us.

Do you think if I take SN I can avoid the possibility of this happening?

I don't care about stomach or head hurting I just don't want to suffocate.

N is one of the most peaceful ways, im 100% sure. SN on the other hand; there you suffocate while being conscious. Ive seen a life stream of someone going by SN, and that was exactly what youre describing; people suffocate because their blood cant take up any oxygen or by some other mechanism. they are still conscious, shaking, punching, nauseous, puking, thats really a horrible way to go and exactly what youre afraid of

To be fair, you can throw out what ifs forever until you try it. There is no way to be sure.

With SN, you can attempt to sedate yourself to the point where you're unconcious before the hypoxia sets in - but even though your body craves oxygen (tachycardia, headache, hyperventilating) it doesn't mean it feels like you're suffocationg. People with long covid have been reported to been 'happy hypoxic' where they just dozed off. It can be similar to breathing the nitrous oxide gas, where you pass out from a lack of oxygen in the brain. I've done it, and it actually feels quite good. Same effect happened to me when I strangled myself with a rope - the brain goes hypoxic for a bit and you just black out, and it doesn't feel terrible at all.

BTW, with N as well, in the MAiD procedure (I think I said that before) they sedate you first, before administering the N.

i promise you, N is absolutely not like that; thats why its being used in pet and human euthanasia (clinics). i know youre worried about that but N is the gold standard for a good reason; its painless and you fall into deep sleep and before you stop breathing, youre already in coma or far away, you wont feel a thing.

i also think either the person in that video confused N with SN, or its just anti suicide propaganda. ive been here for years and researched almost all methods. SN is exactly that what youre describing, people suffocate while being conscious for 15min roughly

Do people really suffocate from SN? Like they feel like they are drowning ?

About 'happy hypoxic'/'happy hypoxia'-- this term came into common use during COVID-19, where people affected were observed to not be particularly distressed, even when their hypoxia was life-threatening. Here's an article if you want to learn more about this: https://link.springer.com/article/10.1186/s12931-020-01462-5#Sec4
Do people really suffocate from SN? Like they feel like they are drowning ?
SN messes with blood oxygen transport to the brain. It doesn't directly mess with oxygen entering the lungs. So, it doesn't directly cause suffocation the way that fluid build-up in lungs does. Therefore, SN shouldn't be "suffocating" (by definition)

AIr hunger is a real thing though. It's when you can breathe freely but oxygen is not getting into the system. It's suffocation, too , but maybe in a less traditional sense.

Also obligatory "not a medical professional" that I forgot to mention earlier. I get my information from the PPH handbook (the one I have is from 2022) and research.

N shouldn't directly cause paralysis, I believe? Theoretically it can cause something similar to paralysis; since it's basically a really strong sedative, it can depress voluntary movement. But this isn't the same thing as being paraylzed from nerve damage, where you can still be fully conscious. The PPH handbook states: "unconsciousness occurs within a few minutes. Death usually follows within the hour. To an observer, a Nembutal death is extremely peaceful" (page 47).

I haven't personally watched any videos of people dying from N, but from what I've heard, it's got an overwhelmingly positive reputation for its peacefulness.

Oh yeah. Air hunger is very much real and doesn't seem fun to go through at all-- but my understanding is that air hunger is the distressing feeling that one can't get enough air, not that air is being physically restricted from the system.

One guy on youtube said that too, he ODd on H and he felt his breathing going out. But he said that in that moment, while being high af, he didn't even care.

Honestly that doesn't sound like a terrible scenario.. I'd hope I won't care if it comes to that. 0,0

i havent taken enough opioids at once to be near death nor tried on purpose but i remember once i snorted too much tapentadol and well yea you nod off and ur breathing gets shallow and feel u have little control and think ok ig i might die or OD but you genuinely dgaf or feel distressed/in pain (besides the actual snorting that hurt)
