My mother has Alzheimer's disease. She lives at home with my father, but I live with them three-quarters of the time...

And since my mother is regressing, plus she has Alzheimer's disease, it's very tiring, distressing, depressing, and exhausting... she's in total denial and isn't sick enough yet (thankfully, thank God) to go into an institution...

Any testimonies?

I feel even more guilty about the suicide because I'm caregiver number two, or sometimes the first, because my parents don't get along well.

Yes, I did, and it was very challenging. The worst part is when people don't even acknowledge all the effort you've put into specific relatives.

I'm in the same situation. My mother is in the terminal stages of multiple sclerosis.

It is very unfair that life has offered her such misfortune, my mother was so beautiful, strong and independent. Watching her get worse every day without being able to do anything is very frustrating and makes me very angry. I can only be there for her, since there's no cure. I can do nothing to stop her suffering.

My grandparents, my sister and I take care of her.

I haven't spoken to my father for years. He's a coward who chose to walk away and make a new life for himself when my mother became bedridden and her illness began to incapacitate her.

So we're few too...

I had to take care of a sick grandfather for about a year. Pros, place to live free, Cons, having to wipe a grown mans ass.

As a social phobic, having contact with people outside is very anxiety-provoking... so caring for a sick person is complicated... But providing intimate care wouldn't bother me too much; I used to be a caregiver. The problem is that I have psychological issues (borderline, bipolar, social phobia+++, generalized anxiety disorder). I've been seeing therapists since 2008, I'm heavily medicated, and I receive a disability pension. I should be the one relying on others, not the other way around... even though I have support from my family, and they help me. Being a caregiver is hard enough, especially when you're sick...
