The forum is not closing down.
As @Seiba has already stated above, some new rules have been implemented regarding method discussion. The forum is going to look different for the time being, and no-one is able to post in the archived Suicide Discussion section any longer. That is why you will see an "Insufficient Privileges" message. I receive this same message - none of us can post in that section for the moment.
All new posts belong in this section going forward. Members can access and read archived posts - they simply can't respond to them any further.
As stated in the above linked post: "All other talks regarding suicide, including goodbye threads, are still allowed. Just the how's regarding methods have to stop for now."
Speaking as a member - not a mod right now - who cares deeply about SS and its future, I strongly discourage members from harming themselves or taking their lives in protest of the new changes or out of fear of unconfirmed suspicions regarding the forum closing down. This will not "send a message" to the media, at least not the intended one. It will not help the community. And I would hate to see anyone hurt - or worse - for this.
I completely understand why members are concerned. I truly do. This community is my home. It is a lifeline for many. We appreciate the new rules are far from ideal, but it's what we feel is necessary at this time to keep SS alive. Rain and the team are doing all they can to protect this important space and keep it safe and running for those who need it.
I am locking this thread to avoid any further confusion and worry about the community closing.
