not going to be specific or mention any name (i do not mean this site obviously) here i mean imageboard/incel related circles and such, i have spent many years around such places, simply because i had nothing else to do with my time and i could not resist the dopamine they offer and the sense of community they give me, even though they can be EXTREMELY hateful, but it does depend on which sub-sections you end up lurking, for me i ended up in the absolute worst ones

Yeah I spent my whole childhood and teenage years browsing those kinds of shitholes instead of talking to other people irl. Thats what happens when you give your severely autistic son early unrestricted internet access. The few times I interact with normal people these days I consciously have to make an effort not to reference the most terminally online and socially unacceptable stuff you can think of lol

I have problem with youtube. I use it for educational purposes sometimes, learning languages and preparing for job interviews, but mostly I just watch cats making strange noises and jumping around. Or some useless psychology channels. I mean it is a huge waste of time, when I could do something productive, if I wasnt so depressed.

Yes, they're the only places I feel accepted... originally I only joined groups I at least mostly agreed with, but I got to the point that I'd even join groups I don't fully agree with just to feel accepted somewhere.

I try to cut them off, but I just as quickly find new ones. The only alternative for me is complete isolation. I think if I had more real world support, I wouldn't have relied on them so much.

Exactly the same here, 1-to-1. I used to chat with literal nazis for a while despite being a POC lol. And yeah I can definitely relate to feeling like a "nomad" of sorts, just bouncing around between communities because you never get accepted anywhere.

i am single, but it's the least of my worries, i just hang out a lot in such circles, not proud of it, but they are dopamine farms and keep me from being too lonely due to the sense of community, i am also brown but i spend all my time hanging out in spaces with all kinds of racists, i know this sounds antithetical
