As ridiculous as it may seem, Star Trek has saved my life on perhaps 3 occasions. I had a very firm plan to ctb then I discovered they were going to release a new reboot of star trek in the cinema (2009 I think). I think I was so excited to see Leonard Nimoy play Spock again, as daft as it sounds I held on, got properly diagnosed and got better than I ever could have imagined, for a time. Now I've managed to hold on long enough that I may see the first series of Picard. I don't know quite how but I did. I'm not sure about the 2nd series. Hopefully I will get to see it in its entirety. I'm a big nerd!

Anyone else find that the universe seems to throw small morsels of joy towards them once in a while? I mean as motivation to stay around it's pretty pathetic I suppose. At least my "friends" from the 24th century will be around again making things seem a bit less bleak. :-)

It's not ridiculous or pathetic, enjoying and looking forward to things is a valid reason for staying alive, imo.
In one of my darkest moments, baseball helped me live on. Even though I desperately wanted to ctb, I also wanted to see the next baseball game! Sounds stupid but it worked, I'm still alive now.

Thanks! :-) I'm glad there's something that you find comforting too in the world. I suppose these little things make the world not feel like such a cold cruel place :-) We don't really get baseball over here in the UK as far as I know, but I was quite tempted to buy a Baseball videogame a little while ago. I'm not into sports really but, I dunno, it looked kinda interesting, but I told myself I have waaaay too many video games that I don't play already!

I can relate to having too many video games I don't play, hahaha. Video games are another dumb thing that helps life seem better than it is!

Yeah they can do that! :-) I think maybe I should play something, maybe it will give my anxiety some kind of outlet? Like if I've got something to run away from or shoot with laser beams maybe it will be therapeutic? Hopefully if I can concentrate on it long enough!

I can't wait for it! I love Star Trek as well.

I have read a review saying the new Picard movie slowly goes where Star Trek has gone before.

But I am not worried. I know that I will emerge myself in the Star Trek universe and forget about the real world for 90 minutes.

Bring it on, Jean-Luc!

The new star trek series are garbage in my opinion....
My favorite series is DS9.
I easily would spend my entirely time in a holosuite...

sometimes i thought it would be nice to see the next season of some series i liked.
but it was never a real reason to stop me when i was close to ctb.

and the new picard series was pretty disappointing for me.

i loved tng and ds9. these two had the roddenberry philosophical spirit in them.
all others are more or less just entertainment in my opinion.
