I literally cut my leg to test it and it was painless, like it literally didn't hurt, blood flowing but no pain. I'm confused, is this normal? has anyone else experienced this?

It's not normal, but certain people, some always, some just when they are under stress, simply do not feel pain in the same way as most humans do....I have a very high pain threshhold, since I suffer from severe chronic pain, so cutting into my skin or it being burnt I don't even notice ! My body alarm system for pain probably does not work properly anymore since it's been disabled by the pain that is constant (ot at least that's my interpretation, I would love to hear from someone medically expert about this !).

I have a very high tolerance. I suffered a traumatic event and can block a lot of pain feelings. For me, pain is mental. I block it.

If you have a history of trauma, it could be that you dissociate pain. It can impact how you perceive pain. I would guess that something, whether past trauma or another cause, is interfering with your ability to accurately sense and interpret pain signals. If this is a new response, or even if it's not, it may be a good idea to visit a doctor or a physical therapist. Doctors of different specialities may diagnose different causes and recommend different treatments. Based on my own personal experience, I'd go to a really good physical therapist first. If they can't treat it, based on the symptoms they'd be more likely to know what kinds of specialists to recommend.

I've had times where I would get cut and not even know I was bleeding until I looked. It has to be deep for me to feel it.

I've never actually thought about it before, but that actually makes sense. I just thought I had a high pain tolerance all this time.

I'm sorry to hear that, I think the trauma affected both of us similarly. It's easy to forget physical pain when you're in so much mental pain. I hope it gets better for you, it helped me to write every single trauma down

Thank you guys for the help, everyone on this forums just amazing. I would probably be dead without this site

high pain tolerance here, but it's weakened over the years since I've stopped poking at it as much.

Depends on your body. I can handle physical pain better than mental.
