So I just started sertraline, I'm only on day 3. I took my 50mg pill at 12:58 this morning and blacked out, I have just come to my senses now (6hours later) and judging my the puddle of dribble on my tit and my locked and aching jaw I would guess that I have been staring at a wall, grinding my teeth and dribbling like a zombie for 6 hours, is this normal? Did anybody else experience similar issues? I feel like I took ketamine and went down the rabbit hole lol didn't even feel the time passing

At the risk of sounding flippant, who hasn't been on sertraline? In the uk anyway Drs prescribe it at the slightest hint you might be a bit down. I've been on it a few years but not had the reaction you have. If that's the reaction you had you should get medical advice it's not normal at all.

Ok thanks, I'm going to text the mental health team and see what they say, maybe they can lower my dose or something.
Does it work well for you?

It has removed my feelings of panic and I don't get anxiety attacks like I used to. But I still get very depressed on and off. My diagnosis is complex though. I've actually been way more suicidal since I've been on it weirdly. Good luck x

Sounds like it affected you pretty similar to how it's affecting me if it was knocking you out. I just spoke to mental health team and they seem to think it's not a problem but for me blacking out for 6 hours and not having memory feels like a problem so I'm not going to take it anymore. It doesn't feel like it's good for me, it's got all the negative affects of recreational drugs without any of the fun lol

Yes and I don't recommend it. It made me feel really strange I stopped after 2 or 3 doses.

Yea I feel strange too, I'm not going to take it today, I think I have a doctors review on Monday or Tuesday so I will wait and see what she says but I don't want to put myself in a drug induced coma lol

many years ago, but i eventually ended up on amitriptyline 150mg , and wellbutrin, 300 mg. Wellbutrin gives you an immense amount of energy. I hope that your medication will soon help you, and that the side-effects will subside.

Yes, I was on Sertraline for many years. I never blacked out from it though. It sounds scary. My doc started me on 25 mg and then increased it to 50 mg and then to 75 mg and eventually 100 mg.

I hope this medication works for you. All the best to you!

Sad but true. It seems everybody and their dog is on some kind of ssri.

I'm glad it worked out for you :)
I think I will ask to reduce to 25mg because they started me on 50 and it just felt like a drug induced labotomy. I spoke to a different person on the phone today and this time they actually listened to me and agreed that it's not normal to black out from it so now I just wait to see what they say tomorrow. Hopefully lower dose will work out better :)

They don't change it so something else when it stops working?
I'm sorry it's not helping you anymore :(

I had it. Of course it's different for different people but for me I didn't like it at all. My reaction to it was similar to your but maybe not as severe. It would cloud my mind and I would want to sleep all the time and couldn't get off the bed, barely could stand on my feet. And the days just kept passing without me even realizing they passed, and I started catching myself not remembering previous days or some parts of them. I hated it so much it was like I was blacking out. I stopped taking it because that reacting just wasn't for me.

What?? Your mental health team sucks. Blacking out should be taken seriously. I don't think that is the intended effect of the drug. If it makes you less functional - the drug definitely should be changed

Beer helps me with depression 1000 times better than Sertraline and Antipsychiatric pills.
And I feel happy.
What is wrong with me?
I gave up pills and I feel a million times better.

And my libido is fine. What can not be said when you drink Sertraline .

The power is in beer. I am clean
