I'm more of a libertarian/anarcho-"primitivist", and a cynical.

I think cynicism is useful for the political debate. Both the right-wing and the left-wing is full of hipocrytes, people who don't care about anyone but themselves, but insist that they are the good ones and represent the entirety of the peoples.

I don't believe in order, in governments, in gun control, in moralism, in religion, or anything created by the collective.

My utopia is simply people living of the fruits and river waters. We lived as hunter-gatherers for 300k years, and we lived in relative peace. 10k years of civilization, and we are already fearing the end of life on Earth. This is madness.

If trans people want to be trans, if they want to be gay, to pray to God X or God Y. I don't care. Just don't try to impose anything on me. Also don't disrespect or attack the ones I love. That would be serious business.

Very conservative indeed. I'm Australian and live in australia. Have Foxtel (pay tv) and watch a lot of the conservative US programs on fox. Used to like bill O'Reilly on the O'Reilly factor. I watch hannity and the five among other programs. In terms of Australian tv, I watch Sky News which is conservative leaning. I'm from Melbourne and have lived under a disastrously left wing government for many years and seen first hand the damage inflicted.

I am pretty apolitical and am made uncomfortable by people with extremely vocal political affiliations but I'd say left-leaning progressives annoy me and feel more hostile to me than their right leaning counterparts. I think this is a holdover from going to a wealthy progressive high school. It was so sickening being lectured by millionaire/billionaire happy well adjusted students with bright futures about how marginalized and oppressed their are as a gay black trans woman whatever. And how privileged I am as a straight white male. Meanwhile they are off to their Ivy League education with a high paying job and loving family and I am in a dysfunctional household riddled with mental illness with no future and medicated to oblivion. The sadistic hypocrisy never left my mind. I think they were desperately embarrassed about their privilege and searching for ways to be part of the oppressed class for social cache.

There are a few here. But it depends what the definition of right winger is. I consider myself in the middle / lean right but am open to listening to others. For example, I support the civilian victims in Gaza. Most boomer right wingers do not. Some may call me a "nazi" for this and others may call me a leftist.
Yes ,OP, people who lean left are more likely to have mental health issues and suicidal tendencies. I think there were studies on this. So it makes sense that many people on here are left wing.
There are political discussions in the politics and philosophy section and they are very civil.

There are some very interesting threads on X / Twitter about modern and post-modern art and architecture and how things are designed to demoralize instead of uplift us. The argument is that after the industrial revolution, this was all done by design. Today, corporations continue this. (Look at the way buildings are designed and the artwork on display or ads / art pushed on us.) Super interesting.
The Classics and Gothic art / architecture are examples of styles meant to bring inspiration to us.

The study was that smarter people tend to be mentally ill. That was it. Smarter people just happen to lean left. Y'all are twisting the fuck out of these studies. I'm not saying that everyone on the right is a Trump supporter, nor am I saying political violence only comes from the right wing.

I'm far from the kinds of people that argue identity-based systemic discrimination doesn't happen or is negligible. That being said, one upside to going left far enough is realizing rich 'progressive' 'oppressed' kids and their 'privileged' counterparts are the same

I listen to all kinds of positions and arguments because I don't believe in a two-dimensional classification of politics but a multidimensional one and even within that framework there are valid arguments to be made for a variety of so called classical right/left/conservative/liberal/whatever else positions. In the end you need to rationally convince me and all ideology is full of dogma and therefore crap in my opinion.
Politics became some kind of war zone for many and I refuse to participate in that bullshit because it's a useless waste of time to have any discourse on that abysmal level.
I guess if you somehow had to classify me and most of the things I'm convinced of due to the mechanisms outlined above, I'm a somewhat left leaning centrist. Shoeonhead's takes on YouTube are usually based imo.

I used to be alt/ far right, I've been chudified from /pol/ since circa 2015. I used to hate transgenders, LGBTQ+, drug addicts and other "degenerates", especially since I was 14-18 years old (which are quite impressionable ages) and was a diehard natsoc.

Now I identify as apolitical or as someone taking a third position away from the dichomatic "left vs right". It's not very nuanced and quite absurd to think that you can group everyone's political positions and moral frameworks into "left or right wing". The reality is that it's "rich (elites) vs humanity". "left vs right" is just a ploy to keep us fighting each other.

I hate conservatives (who only conserve Israel and the bank accounts of the elites) and the left (who force elite mandated progressive imperatives on everyone). Both sides are equally worthless as each other.

If I had to label myself now I would consider myself a libertarian (socially) and a socialist (economically). People have a right to live their lives the way they want without fear, as long as it doesn't directly affect others. If you want to live in a traditional family you should be able to do that, if you want to be gay or transgender you should have the right to do that too. Ultimately I am pro-choice: people can choose how they live (or end) their lives because everyone is different and no law from the government can be inclusive / representative of everyone.

Worrying about politics is also stupid, it's just a performative circus (that you have no input in) which slowly destroys itself. Take for instance the recent increase in censorship (UK, AU, Russia VPN ban), these nations think that by enacting these laws they help censor their population, it has the opposite effect. Proxies (shadowsocks), obfuscation, tunnels, encryption, tor/i2p use will surge - and before long these nations will realise they've dug themselves a grave. They have inadvertently radicalised their own populations and made them use technologies which the government has 0 ability to regulate or censor.

In a way I think the current political climate is good, it's pushing people away and eroding trust in traditional power structures (institutions/ governments) and people will realise that left and right wing people are very similar to one another. Most gen Z are also quite open minded and tolerant of others so so think the future will be bright if we continue dismantling exploitative corporations/ power structures.

Although socially, I'm very much a liberal (in the classical & philosophical sense), but not necessarily a leftist. I'm staunchly pro-choice and strongly support maximizing autonomy for the individual. I dislike leftists/progressives because I think many of them are hateful, antisemitic, racist, sexist, ignorant, and have a downright authoritarian disposition where they deeply desire to forcefully impose their brand of morality upon others—not so dissimilar from their conservative counterparts.
