So I've gathered everything I'll need for partial suspension, mostly working with a tutorial archived from the old .com site from 2018.

I intended to use a 10mm hemp rope as ligature since I had one lying around unused. However, I'm surprised how rarely I see people talking about hemp ropes on here, I thought it would be the obvious choice.

Is there any reason not to use one? I did notice there's a LOT of friction, I'd have to lube it up properly so the knot can tighten under my weight more easily. But I'd probably do that with any rope.

So TLDR: Should I use a 10mm hemp rope for partial suspension or get something else? I do have access to Amazon, Ebay, etc

I do not know the tensile strength of hemp off the top of my head, but they make synthetic ropes that can hold hundreds if not thousands of pounds, so most people choose one of those. Also synthetic ropes seem to slide very easily, so there is no reason to not go with one of those. There are hundreds of them listed on Amazon for very cheap.

Personally, I don't find them pleasant to the touch and the possibility that the noose knot might get stuck and not slide well to compress to the maximum is not a good idea.

Although if you go for Partial, you can adjust everything again if something isn't right. I wouldn't use it for Full, for example.

Texture and friction.
They are very rough and do not slide well.

Bare hemp ropes seem painful.
A Japanese forensic pathologist mentioned that to cover the rope with soft cloth makes hanging execution much less painful.
