My boyfriend just put this on to watch before he went to bed. It was so hard to not share I'm a member. Even more difficult was not correcting misinformation. For a sec I was almost nervous he knew I was on here. I don't think so.

The video was mostly fear-mongering, as to be expected, but I was pleased that she at least gave some space to express some prochoice opinions.

Oh I HATE this channel..their videos r so lazily researched like their videos SUCK

It's absolutely amazing to me ... This forum is the VERY REASON I did not commit suicide. But they overlook the fact that we are not "pro-suicide" here, we are "pro- CHOICE".

Therapy and medication carries risks as well. For example I don't want to go back on any type of antidepressants because doing so would likely lead to me losing my job.
I have heard about this in certain fields/countries and it's so short-sighted and callous. They're forcing all their workers who are depressed to bottle it up and self-medicate, even if they want meds and therapy. Usually it's because of the same hypocrites calling for everyone to talk about suicide openly and not be afraid of treatment. There must be a better way of handling these cases.

I especially love the "if you enjoy disturbing content" line because it pretty much sums up society wanting to be morally righteous about things while voyeuristically peering in.

It's kind of like the people obsessed with Crime podcasts- it is objectively people enjoying other's misfortune for their own entertainment. No one actually cares about the victim or getting "justice".

People don't care about mentally ill people struggling either…otherwise most countries would have better healthcare and support systems for the mentally ill. People just want to gleefully look in on other's suffering.

I completely resonate with this. When I first came to the forum I was acutely suicidal. This place has helped me more than talk therapy ever has in regards to suicidality.

In my case it has nothing to do with the type of job or the country I live in. I was on antidepressants when I started that job. Then I stopped taking antidepressants, my boss noticed I was getting better at my job and I have since had a promotion and multiple pay raises. I am afraid that if I were to take antidepressants again, I would get worse at my job again and I would lose my job due to no longer being able to properly do it. I also do not want to take pain medication for my chronic pain for the same reason. I make do with paracetamol, as I fear anything stronger would impair my cognitive abilities.

That's understandable and perfectly valid too. It sounds like a very difficult situation without a clear cut decision to make. I'm sorry you even have to make a decision like risking your job vs not seeking treatment. This world really doesn't doesn't make it easy for people to heal, or even to minimize their suffering as in chronic pain.

I do go to therapy.

What makes it even harder especially regarding chronic pain is that chronic pain conditions often don't get recognised as a disability in Switzerland, and oftentimes claims for disability money due to chronic pain get rejected. And disability money isn't enough to live off anyway, so if I want to keep living alone and having enough money I need to keep working either way.
