"Patient reported ingesting 2 teaspoons of sodium nitrite he obtained 6 hours before presentation in an attempt to end his life.

The patient reported losing consciousness after ingestion and waking up in his own vomit and feces. He felt confused and called EMS."

If this happens I'm gonna be pissed.

What is the process of ctb with SN? What happens in the body when you ingest it?

"Felt confused" must be the understatement of the century there lol omg.

It sounds like they didn't have much time to fast, unless it was underway and then they purchased it?
Too many unknowns for any insight to be gained.

At least with SN there is no brain damage usually.

Waking up after taking N would be a huge predicament. But I think the chance is so low due to lower vomiting risk.

Hence, anti-emetics are important for SN and not for N.

I'm reading more and more reports that people are failing with SN. And the reports are really freaking me out like this one. I wonder if it has to do with purity. But people are failing and waking within days of doing SN with awful headaches etc. Am I going to have to do VSED because I can't handle failing with SN, I'm not happy after reading this stuff.

"Unfortunately, online forums exist that detail how to dose sodium nitrite for suicide."
Yeah it's sure unfortunate that people who've decided life isn't for them have a peaceful way out...

"Furthermore, it has been recently discussed in popular news streams after a celebrity died of an overdose."
...what, just an overdose in general or someone in the public consciousness took sn?
Edit: Near the bottom of the article this is mentioned, some actor called Matthew Mindler. Though all the news articles say sodium nitrate instead...

This is the same type of clueless guy that would fuck up an attempt with a gun. No idea what he's doing, no research, it sounds like he just swallowed SN from a spoon with no antiemetic. He might have just read about it in the NYT article and not researched further.

This is also potentially a scare-tactic article, the author's biases are very clear in their language.

I read it in one of the threads about SN failures, someone woke up days later with a massive headache. I can't remember where I read it, but it was somewhere on here. I'm getting tired of reading failures. What's your advice on all this? Because I can't handle failing myself.

I wish I could see that post. I can assure you there are way more successes than failures. Most who have failed called for help or were found.
I just wish I had some propranolol to make the process quicker.
By the way this case was reported 4 days after the article of Matthew Mindler was released to the public so this guy probably didn't know what he was doing

That makes me wonder how he knew to get nitrite if the article says nitrate.. he must have done some sort of research unless he just ended up with the nitrite somehow.

Is it similar to what someone has gotten 😳
Yup! :mmm: I want to know what exactly made him go to the bathroom. Was it something in the product or hopefully it was because of the force of him throwing up. Because there can be a lot of downward force when someone throws up. I've farted before while throwing up, we've all been there. The post is definitely on the fear mongering side.

2 teaspoons by most measurements of a teaspoon is not even close to the recommended 20 gms of SN in water. I see no mention of it being put into water, perhaps he just gulped down two spoonfuls of SN and hoped for the best. Yes, it is possible to die with less, but you are leaving it more up to chance as this guy found out.

Additionally, it notes that he has irritable bowel syndrome, and as far as I know there have been concerns about the effectiveness of SN with people who have digestive issues like that. One should take their own health issues into account and how it could complicate a method.

There is no reason to be alarmed based on the case of one person who seems to not have followed the recommended regime at all.

"Furthermore, it has been recently discussed in popular news streams after a celebrity died of an overdose."

There was a former child actor, Matthew Mindler, who committed suicide with SN. It was discussed a bit on SS. And was probably another thing that made a lot of the existing ways to obtain SN disappear.

Amazon and Wal-Mart removed it a while back. Same brand Matthew used, which reminds me I should probably delete this post because it shows a source.

Does it come in discreet packaging? I already have some, but I'd like higher purity in case buying N fails.

Welp, two teaspoons ( of sugar) is only 8 grams. That's much less than the sugg. dose. Did he do a desperate ctb,not following directions. He woke up in vomit and feces? Were they sure it was HIS?😉

That's the thing, he had IBS too. I read the article again, and I can see that the author is trying to scare people because they mention the feces three times. We also don't know if he would have recovered if he didn't call EMS.

Vsed does not work, unless you're already very weak and terminally ill. It also requires constant attention from medical personnel and equipment. I really hope people would stop bringing this up as a viable method.

Uh, sorry but you're flat out wrong. People have died from dehydration/hunger in the woods before. It's nothing new. I've done lots of research with VSED. And guess what, You Can Do This Alone! People die of starvation/dehydration all the time. And not with hospice either. And what equipment? You don't need machines to starve! But here's a source anyway:
