  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

If Tantacrul somehow gets to see this comment through his sock puppet account, I just want you to know that it's incredibly obvious from watching the video that you have no clue what it's like to be suicidal. To wake up every day and have your first thought be, "damn I'm still here", to obsess every day of wanting nothing more than to just stop existing, and to have that make you feel even worse about yourself because if you do it you're going to hurt the ones you love. I envy your naiveite. There is literally no other safe place for people having these thoughts to discuss them with each other. Anywhere else any of us post we are immediately met with reactions from people who don't understand begging us to call some suicide hotline or go to a hospital. Many of us have done both many times, and I'm sure it helps a small percent of people, but the sad truth is for most of us it just doesn't work. This site isn't perfect, but I don't know where else I would go, and I likely would have killed myself already if it weren't for being able to interact with people who understand how I feel on this site.

To add to your comment on the suicide hotlines and treatment not working for a far too sizable demographic, I'd like to say that I've been to the hospital 6 or so times, residential treatment (month long program) once, been in therapy and psychiatry for years, tried around a dozen different meds of all different classifications, tried ketamine therapy multiple times, tried Dbt, tried Iop, tried Php, tried meditation/mindfulness, tried diving head first into spiritual practices with a whole year dedicated to obsessively studying them, tried getting sober (and succeeding, but still full of despair and extremely dysfunctional), tried consistent exercise, tried gratitude journaling, tried psychadelics, tried calling suicide hotlines to find relief (never helped in any meaningful way), and now have just about finished Tms treatment without any sign of progress or remission.

A lot of people don't even have the luxury of accessing these treatments so that's a whole other not so great story, but yes. Nonetheless, I have tried A LOT of treatment for things to only deteriorate despite my abundant efforts. With all that being said, I'll be damned if I'm not allowed the right to die. Whether I choose it now or later, this is my human right. I have suffered through HELL and no one has any authority over my life except for me. This forum is being used as a scapegoat when there are REAL problems that need addressing. Not only are these attacks unproductive, they are DESTRUCTIVE. They can try to make suicidal people invisible but they'll have to work hard to keep themselves convinced they didn't cause harm or else, god forbid they face the guilt of their misguided intentions.

I too have tried everything you listed but the spiritual retreat, and have had multiple hospitalizations. Many people fit into this world and are able to be happy in it, but for whatever reason I am not.

Only the future can tell for sure but nobody should be obliged to wait around if they feel they've had enough. I'm sorry to hear that you're in a similar situation. It's a terrible feeling when you reach the point where you tried all or most of the "profound" treatments without success.

Agreed, this website has helped me than any "resource" that has been thrown at us. It's clear he's never called the suicide hotline crying. By all means, if you would like therapy and have access to it go for it, but it's not that simple, and we have to stop acting like death is the worst thing possible.

I don't see a reason why there's a need for another thread with the same information.
