I have a very large and masculine adams apple, from my experience the knot at the back of the neck is extremely painful is it crushes my adams apple first before it crushes my carotids. I find it more comfortable on the side, guess its very much personal preference then. I guess its tailored to each person.
Anatomy is not a matter of preference, whether you are male or female the carotid arteries are on both sides of the neck. And both must be well compressed for rapid loss of consciousness.

The ligature goes above the Adam's apple (Laryngeal prominence). More or less at the level of the Hyoid bone.

Hmmmm i dunno man, Im testing it right now and it still hurts, I just prefer it on the side or side of my jaw. My adams apple is extraordinarily big.

In principle you are right, it is sufficient to block the blood supply to one brain half. You cannot be half consious and the Willis circle will not let enough blood through.
On the other hand, the rope slips above your adams apple and you pass out before you feel the urge to breath. The knot in the neck is the gold standard of hanging.

The girl in the video graps the rope with both hands and takes her weight with her hands and not with her neck.

If she would not have taken her weight with her hands she would have passed out as quick as with a constricting loope and died. The fixed loop that she used, reduces the pressure on her neck a little but it is still much more than needed to flatten her carotids.
I've been wondering, what knot literally tightens non stop circumferential around the neck with the amount of constriction as your body weight, because the slip knot and noose knot only makes a V shape on your neck and the knot has a gap in it meaning it doesn't tighten that much, I want it to be a O shape like a "lined circle getting smaller" on your neck type of constriction, and the slip knot or noose knot sort of twists your neck to the side rather than tightening effectively

Ligature mark (caused by the pressure of the full hanging body weight) is typically interrupted at the level of the knot (where it rests behind the neck)

The space without mark will be larger if the person did not use a self-tightening knot.
