thats not what i said. i said theres a difference between the 2 and considering they feel sorry for even discipling them they probably arent overly harsh about it. instead of assuming they still abuse the cats, why not ask them how they discipline the cats?
can you please explain to me how that is still abuse and how you would discipline the animal, an act that could save its life?
They said "... but I don't feel good about it." That's what brings me to believe that the discipline' (especially when OP is angry) is abuse rather than discipline.
that doesnt say that at all. they could feel bad about any degree of it, even so much as petting the cat because they could now have ptsd and remember every time they so much as look at a cat and feel bad. "i dont feel good about it" says nothing about how they are treating the cat, just how they feel about it.

Ehhh man... it's a good thing you feel guilt at least. Sorry for harsh words but emotions took control over me. You mustn't do that! Cats are very sensitive to any form of abusement/strict discipline and you won't teach them anything this way. You're just teaching them that they should avoid you. There are other ways.
Also if you have problems with controlling your agression and you can't do anything about it then you shouldn't have animals in your house. It's best solution for you and these animals.
Maybe soap should relocate... the cats already have a loving home, why should the rest of the family have to give up their pets; and trying to find good homes for them all, would be a lengthy process.

Ok, I put it badly. I meant that there shouldn't be any animals in place that OP lives. Relocating seems like a good option but on the other hand it might be difficult for soap to find a new home... Anyway, they shouldn't live with cats under the same roof. OP won't be tempted to hurt an animal and thus they won't feel guilt afterwards and the cats.. well the cats won't suffer.

I didn't say you have to kick them out. I said you must have led to a situation when there are no animals around you.
Please castrate your cats!! Why are you not doing anything about it? Kicking cats out of your house to make space for more??! If you don't have space for more cats, don't get more cats.
My cats were always castrated. They don't have to struggle with estrus/overly high attraction and they don't pee all over the house.
Often animal shelters will do it for free.
that i didnt know. (plus they said the shelters there suck but that aside) mine were either in a situation where it was fine or in the case of the ones i have now came spayed? i can never remember which is for girls and vice versa
Depends on the area I assume, but a lot of animal groups will do it for free to help control population and disease.
that makes a lot of sense. should be careful to not get everyone fixed, unlikely but possible. it would make an interesting way to have a population go extinct, oops?

Amen brother, whenever i see these types of controversial confession posts on reddit, the amount of people (usually the majority of the replies) commenting just to humiliate and say vile things is disturbing. Its a good opportunity to virtue signal or let emotions get the best of you
