Discussion Am I overreacting, or am I right to be worried about youtuber and tiktoker kmk?

Are any of you familliar with kmk/kallmekris on yt and tiktok? See she used to make comedy and reaction videos of all sorts but nowadays she almost only makes true crime videos who are getting darker and darker... Now I'm ngl, her content is entertaining still by any means, I love a good true crime storytime myself by any means, but the way she so suddenly went from comedy to almost only true crime so quickly is unsettling to me. Now I can't speak for tiktok since I haven't used it for years so I have no idea what's been up there at all, but on yt it's been quite scary imo. Ik she's had mental issues before and thus I am worried about her mental health. Am I right to be worried, or am I just overreacting?

I wouldn't worry about any influencers or tiktokers cause they have history of faking mental illnesses or being in messed up situations for engagement and views. And true crime is popular now, maybe she just jumped in on the trend

I don't think she's a faker, but could be the trend thing, yeah
Regardless I watch her videos for her content, not what she has or hasn't

I think a lot of people are fascinated by true crime. I am also. Maybe it isn't the healthiest. I expect psychologists would be concerned but then, they must be concerned about a great number of people because it's so popular.

I'm not familiar with this creator. I looked at a video briefly and for my taste, it's a bit too flippant for the subject matter for me. That's not to say she doesn't have respect/ compassion. I'm just used to channels that deliver it in a more sombre tone. Not that it makes much difference of course to the victim.

What exactly would be your concern though? That it's becoming normalised/ desensitized for her? That she may actually want to commit a crime? Or, that she may be being sucked into a very depressing realm?

I think probably obsession with anything probably isn't the healthiest and I imagine YouTube creators do have to immerse themselves in research in order to create.

Not sure really, from a practical point of view, I imagine she probably had a strong interest in it to begin with. I imagine that true crime channels generate a lot of interest/ money too so in part- it may be a tactical switch.

Have you noticed a change in her personality online?

I'm not familiar with her but let me tell you a secret. I'm a small content creator on youtube and we are simply that- content creators! We put out content and doesn't mean it's true, however you perceive it, we'll that's on you. We are there to entertain and create illusions that people enjoy watching. It's all entertainment, trust me. People follow your content failthfully and feel they know you. It's all for clicks and views lol.
