Story Acquiring SN from MIC

US here. Purpose of this thread is largely to ramble/document to the void about the process of ordering and obtaining SN from MIC due to my tendency to get paranoid and no amount of reason will stop me from ruminating on it, unfortunately.

Purchased 6/8. Would have been 6/9 for MIC. Couldn't do the wire transfer due to my fears- they accepted an alternative form of payment that put me at some ease of mind despite it setting off a fraud alert for my bank. Easy fix. Think it only cost around 107 + another fee which made it about 130 USD in total. Was asked if I could "clear customs"- that's the thing that has me tripped up. They labeled the SN as something else without me asking. 97% resin, or something. I am wondering if that's really the purity as I was too nervous to ask at the time. I am praying the packaging itself will not be obvious. The seller moved me over to WhatsApp. Shipping info was sent to the carrier company, and I received my tracking number on 6/10 and was given an invoice document. Its been sitting in limbo since then, it seems. Wondering if there is something I am supposed to be doing at this point. I am partially regretful- not for trying to acquire the SN- just regretful over the worry that I might get a welfare check or something of the sort as I still live with one of my parents. Hoping that won't turn out to be the case. I have also been told that the customs nonsense I am getting so fearful over is just a small fee. I'm sure no one is lying to me, but I am still on high alert.

hi, I am in US. I talked with 12 suppliers on MIC. I did not purchase from there. did you say you would be able to clear customs independently? I would google what that entails to see if you can figure it out. and, also message them to double check if they expect you to do that as they likely do.

Hi. Yes, I did some Googling to figure out what exactly that would mean. To my understanding it could mean: "Pay a small fee" or actually having to get in contact with the carrier (likely via e-mail) and confirming that the package is what is listed with a simple document. I wasn't entirely sure what the seller meant- but I did look it up before I agreed to it and I suppose at the time I thought it was something I could do. It might be nothing. I could be overthinking. I assume there may be a slight language barrier but I think I understood what they meant...at least partially.

Haha, I feel like a guinea pig but this is absolutely entirely my own doing. I'll look into it a bit more- I hope its what I suspect it is. Thanks! :)

I should be receiving mine 2-3 days from now also from MIC. Mine is labeled as plasticizer and the sender is from a different company (freight forwarder i guess). Hopeful i don't get scammed and when tested it should be SN. Cost around 130$ plus local customs clearance of around 9$. I'll try to let you guys know if it's real SN or not.

Please do! I'd really appreciate that. Its been driving me up a wall even though I know I should be fine, haha. I think its the customs things bugging me out at the moment...but I hadn't concerned the possibility of it not even really being SN (too heavily- was always in the back of mind).

Is your sender company also different from the company you ordered it from? That what makes me suspicious

You know-- now that you mentioned it, I checked the company name on the website and the company name on the invoice. They are different..Could be nothing- like maybe the latter is the supplier of the former company. I've had the same rep talking to me the whole time. They have been quite consistent, to my standards, anyways. I understand they're far ahead so won't hold them disappearing for their lunch break against them, though. Interesting you brought that up. Good catch.

Okay update: MIC SN from supplier which i will not name is indeed SN. As for purity i'm not really sure. But comparing to my previous SN source which claim ACS reagent purity, test color looks pretty much the same. So i'm assuming 97-99% purity from this supplier of MIC

I'm also in Australia but wondering what MIC is, haha. It took me many weeks to work out what DSL is, now need to work out what MIC is and I'm technologically challenged, lmao.

You are acting as your own customs broker in this situation rather than the company using their own in house or a third party. It is not as simple as you may think. I tell you this to make sure you understand so that you can obtain your package. good luck:)

It may have been just as simple as I thought it was, actually! I just got the notification 3ish hours ago: "International shipment release - Import" Haven't had to do much at all, really. Still expecting that I have to pay a duty fee, though.

We'll see how it goes. Its not done until the package is in my hands. Edit: It just departed and its back in the transportation network. Apparently a good chunk of the cost was for express shipping so I suspect it will be here sooner than I thought.

Update: My SN arrived today. Genuinely shocked by how quick and smooth that was. Took less than a week once it was given to the courier. They are definitely somewhat aware of what is up because they seemed to be very thorough in making it passable. I can say with a good amount of certainty that the SN from the other MIC source is likely 97%+ as well.

I didn't pay through WhatsApp or on the website. Does WhatsApp have a money transfer feature?

Lol then how did you pay, they ask me on whatsapp to pay on bank transfer.. but normally you should do it in the mic website i suppose

Oh, they're asking about a wire transfer. Well, I'm not sure who you are in contact with, but I used AliPay. Wire transfer made me too scared.

Some of them do not seem to have it set up so they can do the invoice on the website- or...that was what I was told. Whether or not that's true or if its for another reason is a different subject. However, I was given a QR code for Alipay. After I paid, I was moved to WhatsApp but it could be different for someone else.

I also regret to inform there was no "plug" included in my parcel. False advertising.

Yes. They were very thorough as well. Included a sample baggy of what it was mislabeled as outside of the package in the little pouch where they put the documentation. Very grateful. I cleared customs within a day with no scrutiny.

Would you mind sharing what your experience was like? Its important to have multiple perspectives so everyone can make informed choices. Mine went incredibly smoothly. Paid 6/8-6/9, tracking number on 6/10, and I received my package on 6/16.

Been completely fine since it arrived. Still a bit on edge but pretty sure I'm in the clear.
