Hi, I'm new and have joined to find out more about monkshood (Aconitum nepellus).

I recently purchased some seeds online and intend to have this plant ready by July 2019. I have experience in growing plants from seed and I have a hydroponic system should the seedlings need any extra help.

I've given myself six ish months (I have a date in mind when I'll be undisturbed for many hours) to get various things in order (finances, work etc).

I don't want to experience the abdominal pain / nausea so rather than ingesting the roots, my plan is to aid absorption through the skin by making an incision and applying the sap from the picked leaves.

From research I understand that this will cause numbness, tingling and then arrhythmia and asphyxiation. By not injesting I'm hoping to avoid the gastrointestinal pain.

I do not want this to look in any way intentional so I'm going for "unsuspecting/careless gardener".

I am hoping this will work with minimal fuss so if anyone can see any holes in my plan, please let me know. I have never made any previous attempt but want to ensure that I get it right.

One of the key benefits is applying a carrier liquid to aid in absorption of topical salves such as hemlock, nightshade, monkshood, etc. DMSO also helps with that and it also helps with ingestion of SN and other products that require an Anti-E because it helps the product penetrate the membranes lining the stomach. You can readily buy it anywhere online or in the local pharmacy. Aim for 99% grade DMSO. Don't use any of the natural remedy/new age crap they peddle often.

Thank you so much. I'm going to do further research on DMSO. I have six months so I'm gathering up as much info as possible.

@Xerxes thank you.

Do you think I've got a good plan? Incision to the skin, apply dmso and aconite?

I really want to avoid the gastrointestinal issues.

Arrived today. Now it's just time and patience but I'm planning this out to be as perfect as possible so I don't mind the wait.

I have found an over the counter anti emetic called Buccastem that I am planning on taking at least 2 hours prior to attempt. Although I'm not going for ingesting the aconite, I still want to ensure I avoid any kind of nausea.

Hi, Buccastem or Prochlorperazine I used to take to stop me being sick with migraine headaches and it made me go straight to sleep within 15-20 minutes of taking it.

Don't know if that's helpful or not! But if you want to stay awake for a bit after taking it I thought you might need to know x

Thank you, wasn't aware of the drowsiness so would be a good idea to test buccastem on it's own prior to attempt to see if it knocks me out or not.

It's a pleasant enough mild spacey feeling - it may not knock you out at all, I might just be a light-weight for medicaments but I didn't want you all prepped then things go pear-shaped for you x

Honestly herbal sleep aids can make me tired so I really appreciate you telling me this.
Every time I learn a new piece of info, it helps towards a fuss free, organised, prepared journey. I can't bear the idea of failed attempt after failed attempt.

I agree, that's why I think everyone is so kind on this site to share their experiences and resources to benefit each other. It's bad enough feeling like a day to day failure without feeling like you can't even ctb right!

Yeah, I haven't had one bad experience on SS so far. I haven't seen anyone encouraging or judging. Just advice and care. I wasn't expecting it to feel weirdly positive but maybe that's what you get when you meet others who understand.
