Hi friends,

I recently saw a post by @UnderTheSun, about suicide via KCl.

The author of the initial paper claims that it is possible to achieve death via an intravenous push of 65ml of 338.5 mg/ml potassium chloride with sodium bicarbonate.

While it is true that this method will achieve death, I find it vastly irresponsible to publish this as a valid method of dying. I have outlined my grounds below:

1. Despite the PH neutralization, it WILL hurt. It WILL hurt more than you can ever imagine. The reason potassium IV hurts a ton is because that potassium itself is involved in nerve signalling, so you will be in excruciating pain in your last moments. The PH level matters a lot less than you would think. It will not be a fun experience. It will be unthinkably painful. As an experiment, I'd be happy to hang two IV bags (one with potassium and the other with sodium bicarbonate) to prove this to you.

2. It does not utilize sterile compounding. If you somehow survive (Think CPR, calcium gluconate, and insulin), you will have the worst time of your life battling bacteremia and possibly dying to sepsis, which is NOT fun.

3. You do NOT need an IV push of 65ml of 338.5mg/ml KCl to die. You can die with much less. Just one small 1ml vial of concentrated potassium chloride will result in near-instant death, albeit an extremely painful and unpleasant one.

I'm not going to go after the other factual errors, but if you have any questions for me feel free to leave them below.

Bye!!
