Hello, I want to talk about the less know symptoms of ADHD medication. I personally take methylphenidate 30mg a day.
I want other people to know how to help manage their symptoms so here's a list of mine.
No appetite at all, my stomach growls yet I feel disgusted at the thought of food. It's like trying to eat when you physically cannot anymore like after a buffet. (Help how am I supposed to eat at least one meal a day if it feels impossible to eat? My dr said you have to force yourself but I take one bite and feel disgust)
Random increased heart rate that gives intense anxiety.
Increased arousal (it's very annoying because I will feel extremely depressed yet I'm horny makes me feel bad)
Increased sweating. Omg no one talks about this. I sweat so much even though I'm not hot. My hands and feet are freezing yet they're always slightly sweaty. My armpits and drenched. And the BO is really bad. I have to re-apply deodorant multiple times. (Does anyone have a good deodorant brand? That doesnt run out within an hour. A brand for men and a brand for women)
I just showered last night and I already feel disgusting from all the sweating and I stink. I stink the next day after I shower, it's ridiculous.
More emotional. Whenever I take my medicine, I feel negative emotions much more strongly. I cry over small things. I once sobbed HEAVILY. Because my BF is more attractive than me. And then I was crying because he's handsome. I feel like I cry over things I wouldn't normally cry over.
Constipation/stomach cramps. Omg I cannot shit, I think it's because I'm not eating. But the medicine makes it difficult for you to actually eat. I used to get extreme stomach cramps at school when I took it, I'm not sure if that was also because I was anxious. But I would have to go to the bathroom constantly and shit. Every single day. How do I help constipation? I don't really get stomach cramps anymore but I'm always paranoid I'll have to shit at inconvenient times.
Dry mouth. My mouth is really dry. I have really dry lips too. My dentist said that you can try sugar free gum to help with dry mouth I personally haven't tried it yet.
Not feeling thirsty. I often go all day forgetting to drink water.
Well there's some symptoms of the medication I take. I hope that this post helps anyone who also take ADHD medication. They can look to the comments for advice. And just so you know that you're not the only one experiencing these less talked about symptoms.
Note: Not everyone is going to experience the same symptoms on medication. Everyone is different. I see no one talking about these issues and they can feel rather embarrassing.
