  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

I dont think concrete is a good comparison with bone. Especially 2 inches of concrete vs 1/8th of an inch of bone.
You go ahead and take your chances with a 9mm. I personally wouldn't.
I've been shooting for 40 years, shot almost every kind of handgun, except for those ridiculous magnums. My gun of choice for deadly force will always be .45ACP.

My friend, I want 45 acp too. 45 acp bigger. However, my fears are;

1) Can it pierce my skull?
2) Does the direction of the bullet change when it pierces the skull?
3) If it can pierce my skull, can it pierce it from the other side?

1) Absolutely, without a doubt. .45 was designed to kill human beings. That's it's job.

2) Possibly. But that just means it will do more damage, especially if it's a hollow point.

3) Not sure I understand the question. A .45acp will definitely penetrate your skull, and possibly exit the other side. It could also possibly ricochet off the other side and stay in your skull, bouncing around making scrambled brains.

Don't get too hung up on .45acp being a slow bullet. It's still going 900 feet per second, and that's damn fast. It's not a BB gun. It's a killer.

Thanks, Wish me luck not to survive with 45acp. :sunglasses:

Just shooting guns doesn't necessarily mean you understand the physics etc, however, it does sound like you know quite a bit about that. I would like to see more info about black powder firearms. There's almost no info about them in this forum.

It's easy to buy .45 cal muzzleloading black powder pistols. But just because they're .45 cal doesn't mean much from my very limited gun knowledge. It's also the shape of the bullet and the speed which matters. Black powder firearms use round bullets, as in a little ball which you squeeze into the muzzle. The kentucky .45 cal pistol seems to be a popular choice in black powder firearm stores.

Just taking a chance here and hoping there's any good info you can share with me. I'm also thinking of maybe finding a more gun specialized community to ask about this in, but they are usually very quick to ban people if their tingle senses suspect someone might be wanting to CTB.

For example, how would a .45 cal black powder pistol compare to a 9mm (without hollow point)?

I don't have any experience with black powder firearms. You could probably do some googling and find muzzle velocities and other pertinent info.
I do know that they make dies for conical bullets, though, which would increase velocity and penetration power.

And you're right, I'm not a physicist. I'm just a shooter.

These are my assumptions.
- 45acp does not have the power to pierce the skull.
- Even if it pierces the 45acp skull, it cannot go too far. This means damaging only one lobe of the brain.
- Have you read a piece of news that was shot in the head and killed with 45acp?
- I've read news about 9mm suicide.
- 45acp is a story for me.

Can you show me a picture or news of someone shot in the head with a 45acp?
