when I first heard this number it felt very high. But now it just feels comforting. Like I am not in this alone, yknow? With these suicidal thoughts I always felt alone. Like something was wrong with me.

there's nothing a wrong with you it's this place it doesn't work very well it's poorly designed facing certain death all the time or at least we are surrounded by it, soon to be nothing forever what is there to like it's as if we was just bought alive to say our goodbyes and to never return

I'm actually surprised the number isn't higher in a world like this. 80% of the population would be dead if they actually see suicide as an option and realize they would never live the life they want and are doomed to live as a side character.

I wouldn't say it's comforting. It just makes me very sad.

And still, people would rather give birth than help someone put of the hole.

But again, if you think about it, it-@ the people who are in the hole who have the highest birth rate. And they create people who are going to be holers (in the hole forever).

Everything is so stupid. People are able to multiply like that only because of the advancement of science and they can barely meet their need for food.

I still think China is a cool country just because of their 1 child per parent politic. I'll forever respect them for that.

wait.. apparently I am wrong. according to this map, most people who commit suicide seem to Screenshot 20220725 084347 Samsung Internet be from the first world.
I think it's because of lack of data from third world countries. I live in a third world country and just 3 km from where I live there is a "suicide bridge". A bridge known for attracting suicide.

This Map says that my country has the lowest suicide rate on the planet. That's why I say that these date collecting tools only work in certain countries. I know for a fact people kill themselves All the time here.

Heck.

10 suicide per 100k people is low, look at post-world-war 1 & 2 (1930 and 1960s)

It seems suicide is still a small market. No company is making cheap convenient product for that propose. Maybe they should ask how many people want to commit suicide and how strong the feelings are to find out the potential market size.

Many countries don't even know their own populations accurately, or care about if anyone is missing. Many are fighting all the time. People die for many other reasons. There is no chance for suicide.
I'd this graph saying that 17,5% of people killed themselves in 1930?
Was that the great depression? Was that worldwide or just the u.s.?

Not percentage, it's actual 17-18 suicides per 100k population.

As per now, 800k suicides in 8 Billion population means 10 suicides per 100k population

Yes, the great depression began at 1929.
The graphic is from Australia only.

Well, in the case... 17 then vs 10 now and we're not even officially in a world war. I'd say this is pretty high and this is only getting worse.

wow, boomers really had it all. Insane. Everyone before and after them has and is suffering like a bitch. And for what. For them to destroy the planet and its ressources and call their children losers.

You know, there is a huge difference between rates of suicided and rates of people who feel suicidal. Most suicidal people won't commit suicide. They'll only feel suicidal forever.

This is kind of why celebrity suicides have to be censored in the media, not because people just kill themselves out of the blue from seeing their favorite celebrity die, but people that were already struggling with suicidal thoughts see someone they idolize and respect, someone they see as better than themselves take their own life, it's very comforting and gives them a little more courage to act upon their thoughts.

The figure here feels like 50. The are suicide reports everyday. But the official figure is in the low teens for last year.

I wonder how many people per year if it were not so difficult… Probably 10 times that number… That number is probably low anyway… People who drink them selves to death or die of drug overdoses or neglect their health that's a form of passive suicide…

Censorship is for kiddies. The society has to grow up and deal somewhere with the problems.

The u.s. figure is about 3-4% (256x actual deaths). If 3-4% are allowed to die peacefully and the society becomes all positive and hopeful, isn't it the utopia people want?

I envy them. They are lucky as they cannot suffer anymore. Whenever I hear of someone dying I always wish that it is me. To me, non existence is always preferable to any kind of life.

I feel like a far lager group goes the passive route. Somehow they hasten their death. Increasing their risk. While letting fate decide time and place.

It's not comforting in the slightest unless you're somewhere on the narcissist/psychopath scale. Regardless I know it's the biggest killer of men under 50 except in the U.S of course where it's guns

The China, one child rule was ended in 2016 (citizens are allowed two children now). Plus, China has a human points system in many regions and they have a surveillance system that is an Orwellian, Terminator, Black Mirror nightmare.

I think 800,000 suicide per year is a relatively small number, considering there are over 7 Billion people on this earth. And before someone attacks me, I am NOT saying that 800,000 suicides each year are acceptable, nor am I saying that having 800,000 suicides each year is not deplorable. It's sad there are any suicides. Frankly, I'm surprised the number is not much, much higher considering how much of the world's population lives in extreme poverty, conflict, repressive regimes, etc.

Of course The Depression was worldwide--Many countries got hit harder than the US--Germany, for example, which is how Hitler rose to power(2% support in 1928 elections but 30% support in 1930 elections)

Was china previously forced by some secret society behind the Georgia guidestones, built in 1980 and destroyed in July 2022, to implement the one child policy? The first line on the stones was about population control.

China's one child policy also began in 1980. It became 3 child policy last year.

China is having a trade war with the u.s. and cutting ties.

Is china shrugging off some secret power from the u.s.? Is that secret power also declining (the monument was destroyed)?

I just looked into that and you are right. They upped it again to 3 children. Maybe in a few years they will up it to 4 :))
