Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

Apparently 4chan was hacked I have never used the website but it makes me fear about ss. 4chan had DDoS attacks in the past and now cant be accessed. The hacker leaked moderators and essentially the website's operators. Could something like this happen here do you think?
Damn lol,4chan is really down . it's just temporary though. If you're asking, if it could happen here, Yes, something worse is happening. They're trying to legally attack this site and bring it down.

Yeah, true. Im just worried for the people who about the person who hacked leaked the moderators, like their email and username. I dont know if the what was leaked was real but.

it can happen with ANY site. a hacker with enough skills can take down any site they want if they truly wanted to. they'll just need the 'correct' motivation
i don't know if this site has a cybersecurity team constantly monitoring and preventing hack attempts, but that's all you can really do is prevent it. if the site gets hacked, it gets hacked. not much anyone can do about it at that point as users, except acknowledge that any personal information shared may be leaked. that's why personal information shared in here is at the user's own risk.
you want to prevent your information to not get leaked? learn and apply 'cybersecurity best practices'. using this site has its risks for obvious reasons, but in most cases, the chances of these ever happening is extremely low or doesn't happen at all.
some users just want to feel comfortable being here, so constantly thinking about rare threats is probably unnecessary use of energy.

I personally like to think that the mods here apply better OPSec than the 4chan mods do. Me personally, I signed up to this site with a burner email and I always use a VPN and use different passwords for everything.
4chan was hacked I'm pretty sure because they kind of forcefully disbanded /qa/ and the /qa/ users made themselves a whole new site and probably for shits and giggles or a little spite wanted to hack 4chan to get back at them, they weren't targeted by some unknown reason.
Same here, I only go to check /jp/ every time a new 2hu matetial is announced because a lot of info is focused there and 2chan beyond the discussion they don't publish anything important, well, anyway it's a month before the release of the demo of the new game.
I guess it's time to go back to the old good forums, because no one in their right mind would go on reddit! Uuugh!

4chan was hacked by users of a "rival" imageboard, it was more for shits and giggles and revenge for personal reasons than any kind of "random hacker" like on TV.
The only people with a beef toward this site very likely do not overlap with the sort of person skilled enough to gain root access on an internationally famous website. The sort of people who hate SASU are boomer parents and legal teams constrained by their own legalese behavioral guidelines.
So to answer your question, it's not happening.

Yeah I've always thought of it as a possibility and it is pretty scary, I can imagine why people would attack this site so the best thing I can say is to just google good OPSEC practices, try to avoid using things that can easily tie you to this website, like similar usernames, main emails, and other socials and you *should* be ok.
I did this myself from day one just in case
4chan got hacked because it was basically abandoned by the administrators, and it was running on software that was last updated in 2012 that was open to exploits, this site seems to run on xenforo, which is actively maintained. The only way this site gets hacked is through a 0-day exploit, and I don't see someone that can exploit enterprise level software bother with a site like this.

4chan has a history of cybersecurity mishaps. All the staff who had their information leaked know that having some form of decent OPSEC is a must on 4chan. Any of the staffers who had terrible OPSEC, or didn't even try, were doomed from the start. They should have known better.
So no need to worry about them. They knew what they were getting into when they joined the staff.
