In my opinion, I think showing the death itself is a bit … people already call you selfish for suicide and I'd rather not be ostracised after death too even if I can't see it. It's really, really cruel how people think nowadays. I always see it.

Anyways, a lot of livestreams, for jumping in particular, show the individual taking the leap but not the aftermath. Such things, what are everyone's thoughts about it? I think that it's more sad than anything because it's a last attempt to leave a mark of yourself in the world. Attention seeking, sure, although I wouldn't even consider that a negative thing AT ALL because I know that I personally would hope that people at least 'knew I existed' before I died.

Little personal story
Last year, actually just two days ago last year, I attempted to CTB via drowning in a river and failed. Got hospitalized, all that, when I got home, I noticed a local news article was posted about me, vaguely.
The majority of the comments were just mocking me, saying things along the lines of how I'd walk looking like a monster (gif included), grow a third nipple, making jokes and guessing whether I was a runaway 'Mexican?' I felt miserable, I just wanted to die all over again. Even to this today, while I know to them it was just a small joke they made on the whim and probably forgot about, I still feel completely humiliated over my failed attempt hence why I'm so hesitant in the case of again, messing up just for a similar case to happen.

That's why, as someone who thought as I was being discharged to go home how I'd maybe make a turn around in life just to see that…! (And I hadn't even live-streamed anything nor posted a single message hinting to my attempt.) Those who livestream themselves lest it's on TikTok or the like and they have a full screen 1080p of their skull blown; I think that's just a bit too much… don't deserve to be hated more so than pitied.

ok thanks for coming to my tedtalk

First of all I am sorry to hear you went through all that.

Secondly as for my opinion on livestreaming ones attempt. I don't know, I wouldn't do it even if it was my last attempt at getting attention or sending a message. I'd be afraid of who found the video/recording/Steam first. I don't want to scar anyone with my death, especially not the people I care about. But I am also not against other people streaming their attempts for the most part. Like you said, the people who stream them blowing their own head off might be too far. Other than that through eh.... if it helps the person or they get something out of it I don't mind people streaming it (not that I'll watch either way)

I think if people want to leave their mark in this way, it's fine. My primary method I have in mind is CO but gun would be next on the list unless I find something else more suitable as no pain is a big priority for me. If I decided to go for gun I'd consider live streaming it as honestly I want the people who caused me pain to know pain themselves. Of course there'd be some people I wouldn't want to scar like that as they don't deserve it but as I have learned life is often times cruel like that.

If people can see it live, wouldn't it be a risk someone would try to stop you? Calling police or paramedics to rush to the scene to save you? It would have to be a method that's over very quickly. I would never take the risk and I doubt anyone would watch anyway.

And that for me would be the main reason not to do it. Even if the method I picked was something quick, I always risk backing out or something in which case that's a one way ticket to a psych ward

Most people don't want to die alone. Even if people are only there to see you blow your brains out, I feel like there's something comforting having someone to chat to in your final moments.

I think its an option that has to be respected. Choosing the way you die is a personal choice and is as valid as choosing a methiod - in fact it is a method

Saying that I think you need to be responsible - livestreaming on something that kids may be watching is not right - because of the trauma it can create. On the otherhand, if its on a live stream that is on a gore site, that's okay because should be aware its a possibility

As for myself - I am planning to livestream or at the very least record it and then having it uploaded in a way its accessible for those who want to watch. A few people will watch it by zoom and I imagine that would be passed around afterwards

I know it will be on gore sites I am sure, but I want witnesses to my decision to die.

i have never seen one person say that they want to die alone, so i think knowing that there is someone watching you and there is someone here for you helps people a lot and is very comforting, especially in their final moments

now OBVIOUSLY i don't think children (and just people who are uncomfortable with the topics of gore and death in general) should be exposed to this kind of content, which is why i have mixed feelings on it. it's one of those things that i don't think has a black and white answer because there is some nuance to it (since not everyone chooses this to traumatize people)

I would do it so people wouldn't speculate about what I was thinking/doing before I ctb. People love to make up their own narratives about how pitiful suicide can be. I'm also obsessed with scientific studies and would like to be part of a suicide statistic and how "effective" that method was

I wouldn't do it because I would probably get the police called on me. Especially if it's one a popular website like Twitch or something.

I wouldn't do it but I don't have a problem with people who choose to do it. I think they just don't want to be alone in the moment.

I feel it is wrong for various reasons.

1) Ctb should NEVER EVER be a spectacle period. VERY private.

2) If there are loved ones, why on earth would one want to drag them through the MOST hellish experience that the whole world could witness? Just WRONG period.

3) Think that there is pressure on like this site now? Why had jet fuel to the fire? Why? Heavens forget the UK putting pressure on this site to shut down, the WHOLE world will be at our gate, and it might NOT be pretty.

4) I care and love EVERYONE, here, no matter if some or a lot of folks think that I am less than dirt, I care about EVERYONE, and if I saw one, it damaged me so much, not only right then and there, but long term.

Everyone has their own thoughts and that is what freedom is, however, I jsut wish and hope that folks close their eyes and see before doing something that could cause harm to others. What one does is their business, however it should NOT be everyone's business.

Considering who and what I am also, it would traumatize the wrong people and embolden the worst to boot. If it got popular, it would be for reasons that would make life suck a little worse for those who'd be directly impacted by the aftermath. Plus, my face is pretty recognizable, so I'd have to be either very quick or very clandestine with my method to simply get away with it at all without police intervention.

I will say this, though, the outside speculation aspect that fenty is bringing up is something I consider a lot, but depending on the level of cope/contempt from the witnesses, I could say exactly whats on my mind in a recording with no room for misinterpretation and people would still choose to hear what they want to. It's happened to me before. It'd look no different from leaving a note, in my experience.

I see it mostly as wrong. It is disrespectful towards the deceased to spread that video and just comment on it like it's a show. Not to mention that it's tragic. It can also traumatize people who are watching the video. Gore is too normalized online. It's a good reflection on society honestly.

The only exception I see is, if it's for educational reasons. I'm pretty sure it has...helped a few people when they took their live to see how the process really is. Or on how tragic historical events are.

I myself would never do it, I find the concept itself rather odd. However if done in a way that you are absolutely sure that everyone watching is a consenting adult, then it is your own, and all viewer's own, decision to make. Why someone would want to watch someone kill themselves is beyond me, and I would be wildly uncomfortable knowing someone who WANTS to watch me die was watching me die, but again, if both the person dying and the person watching are giving informed consent, then to each their own I suppose. My concern is if it is done on a stream where viewers do not realize what they are about to witness, and especially if those viewers are minors. In the same way I don't think suicide should be done in a highly public area because watching someone die is traumatizing, someone should not stream their death on a platform where people are not anticipating watching someone die. And especially if children could be watching, you wouldn't kill yourself at a playground, don't kill yourself on a stream where children are viewing. Being online, it can be incredibly difficult to moderate exactly who is watching your stream, so my concern with it would be that it'd be rather difficult to ensure that all viewers are in fact consenting adults.
