Well of course, but the opposite of that is disinterest rather than full blown contempt. And you can observe disinterest easily on the forum. There are small cliques around with their little inside jokes and open displays of affection, whereas new members with "low status" often get overlooked.

Nothing weird about that, this is a diverse community. Suicidality alone can be a result of a bunch of different factors and affect all sorts of different personalities.

I don't really feel the need to be confrontational here, but maybe if you threatened a sensitive part of my identity or pointed out one of my character flaws I'd get defensive.

I can see that this is more about you, but you shouldn't make too many assumptions about others, without having a basis of truly knowing them. People are a lot more complex than that, and it's never that simple.

Do you think anyone here really truly knows the people, this being not an entity, in this place well enough to be able to make a true assessment about their motivations for doing or saying something, or anything, or even for being here? For what it's worth, I'm not acting. I don't believe that I've encountered anyone on here who gives me the impression they are acting. To be honest, if someone bears their soul on this forum, the least I can do is try to be sympathetic or where possible empathetic.

We all have experiences that have brought us to searching out this website. Some are shared, some not so much. But if at the end of the day we can't offer eachother a little compassion and and a safe space to get a few things off people's chests when we feel like we want to end it all then really what's the point in SS?

I think at least here people can be themselves far more than they can in the real world where they can't talk candidly about what brought them to this point and how to navigate their future.

I spent most of my life putting up with someone who wanted me to give in to their demands to "hurt" them. I didn't give in then and I don't see a reason start now.

I don't think we need to start tearing chunks off of eachother and turning this place toxic.

Maybe I'm blissfully unaware of some toxic element on SS, but, apart from the occasional bit of snarkiness I've not seen any.

All the more reason saying I love you all is just empty platitudes. Kissing ass is a way to get to the top of the ladder as it were. I think I know some people well and truly value them but to lump everyone together as one just because we're all varying degrees of suicidal does them a disservice.

I totally understand where you're coming from but I think that because most of us are here for similar reasons, we share a certain kinship. Most online forums are populated with people who share similar thoughts or hobbies. You could even say that we come together here to share in our interest in our hobby (which happens to be ctb). I don't know, I mean, just the act of ctb is hard enough in itself. Most of us come here to learn about methods, proper techniques, etc. Who are we learning all this stuff from? Yeah, we're learning from each other. I can't imagine a forum like this lasting too long if everyone was completely horrible to everyone else. I think SS would quickly disintegrate.

I think we should just agree not to make any generalisations about everyone here or everyone who isn't. People are far less bothered when it's complementary though, it doesn't have to be true

That's not why I want out. I am garbage and it would be nice to see people look inwards for a change instead of pointing the finger. OP has been on this site since 2018 but hasn't CTB and is just being straight up negative..im not too sure what OP gains from being a member of SS if they don't like the fact that we try to make this a safe place for those who aren't as mentally strong as others. Maybe I'm confused? Maybe I'm dumb? Haha but wtf do I know.
