  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

i mean the title says it all right, would you willingly go through with a CTB plan if you knew it had a very high success rate, but would also be very painful to endure? does that scare anyone off? i mean i think it'd make doing it initially a lot more difficult, but past a certain point, the certain point, it just won't matter anymore would it?

Only if it was 100% certain, otherwise the methods here have a decently high success rate esp. if I go above and beyond on the methods.

People make choices like this every day for methods that are quite high percentage, but there will never be a 100% comlpetely certain method I don't think. Jumping into a running wood chipper might be the closest I can think of- 20 seconds of extreme agony and it's over. EVen then, what if it james somehow or the poower goes out just at the wrong time- there never seems to be a way to get to 100%.

I think pain is a very important factor. That's why the people here prefer partial suspension over full suspension or SN over hanging.
For me, you are supposed to guarantee that there is an afterlife too. Then it would be OK.

Full suspension is reliable that it's tmepting, but if you're taken done early it's a big problem- I just read a story about a guy taken down afetr ten minutes, he is a vegetable and pretty young and his mother cares for him 24/7. SO full suspension is best for situtaions where you are very unlikely to be interrupted, like having a house to yourself.

Oh man I would give anything for a guarantee or knowledge about afterlife. That's probably my biggest concern, its bigger than pain for me.

I might do that since it's just a few minutes/hours of pain but then guaranteed peace for eternity. But then I might not do it since I wouldn't feel the peace of death since I wouldn't exist- the last thing I would experience would be pain. It has both pros and cons so I'm not sure if I would do it or not

Being interrupted is a problem for other methods too. Unless you can instantly kill yourself, you must be alone for a considerable amount of time and I feel very sorry for the guy from the story. That's beyond cruel.

I see no point in accepting this if there are guaranteed and almost painless methods. I could just jump off a skyscraper or put my head on the edge of a train track and I'm pretty sure I'm going to die.

I wouldn't choose a very painful method. I'm a scared, sensitive person and I want as much comfort as I can get in the end.

What comes to my mind first when I think about a slow, painful and 100% certain method is getting a lethal dose of radioactivity. I personally prefer a fast, painless and 100% certain method which requires only accessoires which I can get easily. With other words full suspension hanging.

I guess my answer is "I'm not there yet...." . When I hear slow and painful I think of stabbing myself to death in the neck several times of self immulation ( fire). There horror of the pain stops me. Every week I put a sharp knife to my throat and just the feeling of the pointy tip forces me to throw it down. I would do slow and painless but pain weds me too this world. Unfortunately😒

In a way a painful dying process would be preferable to potentially decades of pain that I would have to experience if I stayed alive and suffered until old age, but even if the method was guaranteed to succeed, I would still fear the pain. Suicide is just so difficult as we are programmed to survive, and we have already suffered enough in life so we shouldn't have to suffer as we leave this world.

Sure. Let me elaborate, though.

It's thought that the brain releases DMT before you die. To calm the dying one, I guess.

A slow and painful death would presumably still end the same, with a calming little "drug trip", and as experienced as I am with drugs, I know that the pain would be forgotten immediately. The certainty of death would be worth it alone, whether I die oblivious to the pain or not.

Life is already pain, what else can be done to me? There is literally no amount of pain I haven't experienced aside from childbirth as I am a male.

Probably not. If it was too painful I feel like I'd mess up and chicken out, and that might do permanent damage. Maybe someday I'll have the courage to go through with a plan like that though.

No. Im done with pain. I want my death to be peaceful, like going to sleep on a cloud and drifting off to the stars and beyond.
