If you are in a place where a mass shooting is happening, would you run towards the shooter and ask to be shot? I would.

No, because he might just shoot out your eye or your teeth or he might just destroy your spinal cord, too risky---For example, The Aussie maniac in New Zealand shot 91 Muslims but 40 of them still made itIf you are in a place where a mass shooting is happening, would you run towards the shooter and ask to be shot? I would.
Very true. unfortunately he went back to shoot injured/ people playing dead so if he didn't do that the injury count would be even higher. No, because he might just shoot out your eye or your teeth or he might just destroy your spinal cord, too risky---For example, The Aussie maniac in New Zealand shot 91 Muslims but 40 of them made it
Yeah in an ideal scenario I'd be the only one shot dead via a shot to the brain stem. I would not want anyone else to be injured or killed by him.I have often fantasized about this. Wished for it. Though it's hard to say what I'd actually do if it happened for real.
But I'd rather not have mass shootings to begin with when I think about it.
I would at least try this in someway as well. Maybe use myself as a distraction because I have nothing to lose. But who knows, it is easier to say than do. I might in reality just chicken out and run, then go back to being suicidal after the shooting is over.Protecting others should be the priority
If there was a shooter I wouldn't mind throwing my life away to stop him. I can die and be a hero. Win-win.If you are in a place where a mass shooting is happening, would you run towards the shooter and ask to be shot? I would.
Yeh I've done that too. I'd love to be the "hero" but in reality, from my little experience of stressful/scary experiences I try and get away from them as quick as possible. I guess flight response kicks in naturally. I don't know if that's because I'm a woman, I'm sure there are heroines but much more likely for a man to be brave I guess.Although not specifically a mass shooting, I have fantasized about saving another person's life during an accident/disaster/crime at the cost of my own. A person who wants to live gets to live while I get to be thought of as a hero instead of a "selfish" person for dying by suicide.
It's really just a silly fantasy, though. It's more likely I'd be paralyzed by fear.
Not if he's trying to shoot me. He needs to do that first.I would run towards the shooter to cause a distraction, letting others get away. I am willing to dacrofice my life in a situation like this to give others a chance to escape or law enforcement to swoop in. I would fight the shooter without regards for my life to save others.
I understand you. I feel the sameI have imagined this scenario before. I calmly look the shooter in the eyes, unafraid of the impending death. He notices this, and we mutually share some understanding through our gaze; we are both broken. I point to my head and say, "make it painless". Then I close my eyes accept my freedom.
I literally was on the train this morning thinking, why am I never in a situation of subway shooters. I pictured myself walking toward them, dropping to my knees and saying please kill meIf you are in a place where a mass shooting is happening, would you run towards the shooter and ask to be shot? I would.
