  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Not everyone has a retirement plan. Not everyone owns a property. Not everyone can work to the end of their lifespan. Not everyone will get goverment cheques as a result of being a senior or disabled (as in many countries). Whats the plan then? Is ctb the solution?

'Should' is a strong way to word the sentiment. It is ultimately each individual's decision.

What do you suggest as a better wording then. I sincerely want to poll the issue

Perhaps - would the best option of the elderly without financial security be to kill themselves? Assuming I am understanding the question correctly.

What is the goal here - to avoid financially burdening younger family members? To avoid the indignity and frustration of slowly losing control over one's body? The former can be done with adequate planning ahead. The latter is the luck of the draw, not much any of us mere mortals can do about it.

They should not expect others to pay for them, short of charity. That is not to say that they should kill themselves, either. I don't know how to articulate my thoughts on this.

"Would you choose to ctb if your retirement income was uncomfortably low". And, yes, that is a very valid reason for me to ctb.

Ah, if it is me personally, then without a doubt. I do not plan to live to be old though. I thought OP's question was referring to all people.

Yes, absolutely. I don't plan to live for that long, though. It's more decay than I'm willing to take. I had enough.

As @fatefulstillness said - would be 'more decay than I'm willing to take' ... I can only add that it isn't the number of years one breaths, but rather the number of moments one lives.

I live on a pension and have a nest egg of life savings. But I live semi-poor, below my means. Fear of poverty has haunted me all my adult life. It would probably trigger me to ctb .

The thought of reaching retirement age fills me with fear, couldn't stand it - not even rich.

As someone who has spent a lot of time around people in this situation I absolutely would.

As an aside, I don't really buy into the concept of "retirement" anyway . I've never bought into the thinking of most industrialized countries about work and lifescript / career. even having money in retirement sucks. Everyone around you dies at an accelerating rate , it's harder to get laid . If you are someone that finds joy in the family aspect which I never have maybe this would be good for you

I'm not sacrificing my best years just so dick Cheney can have a bigger portfolio and pay for his next bypass
