If you had total control over a country, would you ban cigarettes and all forms of tobacco? πŸ’¨
California has been moving increasingly in that direction.

I would ban use of them in public completely. You have no right to make others breathe in that ****. If you invade someone's airspace, you usually get shot.

Do it at home as much as you want.

im more concerned with the weird inconsistency of the laws. ideally they ban nothing, but if they're going to ban shit - don't come down harder on vapes than smoking, cuz that makes it look like the cig industry is running the show.

No. All that's doing is taking away your rights.

If I have no right to make other people breathe in that shit, then all vehicles should be banned from public, as others have no right to make me breathe in that shit coming from their exhaust pipe as they pass me while I'm walking down the street.

I agree with the smoking in public... I think the second hand smoke thing has been blown out of proportion. When you're outside smoking, non-smokers only smell the cigarette, not actively inhaling smoke since smoke rises. Whereas indoors, if you live with a smoker and you sit in the living room or wherever, the smoke has nowhere to go, therefore it's just lingering in the room. That, I believe, is what caused the second hand smoke issues.

Personally, I hate smoking.

I still believe in the freedom of choice. On suicide, on trans rights and also for cigarettes.
I am not in favor of legalizing all drugs though. Germany legalized smkoing weed under certain circumstances and I think this was a bad decision.
I think this makes weed socially more acceptable and gives people the feeling that weed was safe to use.

The difference to me is: tobacco and cigarettes are aleady socially widespread I think education campaigs work better in this instance. I would probably be in favor of increasing the tax on tobacco though. It is taking away a right of citizens if we prohibit it. Whereas I see positives in the fact that LSD, mushrooms, meth isn't widespread and socially accepted in our societies.

I think this is an interesting question. And if it wasn't late at night where I live my answer would have been longer.

There are some public intellectualls that smoke cigarettes to present them as contrarians/ to make the statement. It is similar stupid to campaigns of public intellectuals that voting doesn't matter and that they won't vote for anyone in the next election...

Yes if it meant not having to breathe in cotton candy flavored air or straight up cancer every time I pass by a middle schooler.

Yes, but not outright forthwith. Countries, as would I, often restrict them gradually to let the public adjust to change: raise the minimum age; prohibit smoking on public transport, and stations; no indoor smoking; raise excise duty; more industry regulations. I would accelerate this agenda and eventually legislate that people born after a certain date are prohibited to buy nicotine products, creating a smoke-free generation.

I don't consider the freedom of choice and taking away rights a valid argument in this instance because laws exist to protect the public from themselves and others. A lot of people were against mandating vehicle occupants to wear a seat belt, claiming personal choice. Now, few would choose to not wear one.

You weigh the public good and public harm against one another. Breathing in exhaust gases increases health risks but without the industrial revolution and oil, we would not be where we are now. Regulations try to minimize the harm of things without diminishing the good it does for the public. And what good does nicotine products? I can't think of anythingβ€”staving off withdrawal effects? Meanwhile, the bad of tobacco and vapes are the harm they bring to the smoker and everyone around them, increasing health risks and cancer.

No, I don't believe the government should have such an authority over other grown adults. I believe the only reason some states ban the use of THC is because THC use angers the liquor industry & lobbyists pay off politicians to keep THC banned. Many ppl quit booze once marijuana became decriminalized that dents the alcohol industry profits. And the the court system too isn't getting to arrest ppl for weed they can't profit off of THAT. I love marijuana & vapes are my go-to for my C-ptsd weed should be completely decriminalized everywhere imo. Thanks for having me here.

Many countries are doing that. STRICKS bas on OUTSOOR/PUBLIC smoking. Wich is great.

Keep all drugs legal just dnt use in public.

Wanna be methed out an scalp your own scull? Go for it just be in doors :P

Tbh i agree we should LEGALIZE all drugs but use of drugs and intoxicated/high in public shold be a mandatory 500$ fine for first offence 1k second then 1 week in jail then idk. If keep doimg sit in public might as well throw a month.
Have fun with withdraws in jail ;).

If drugs become legal the make all the hospitals REFUSE service to addicts. (Drug related infections, overdose, sezures basecly all drug related shit refuse treatment by hospital)

Watch country clean itself up and becomes a little less populated :D
