firstly I'll clear up what happened since some people on here probably think I ctb after my last post, well my original plan to was interrupted, so I've moved it back to about 3 weeks from now. anyway, that's not the subject of this post.
I had an idea, since buying pure SN is difficult here in the UK, to extract it quite cheaply from an easily obtainable ingredient without the need for advanced equipment, and I would like to send it here to help you guys and also to make sure there's not some reason this may not work if there's sciencey people on here that would see any flaws in this method or at least make suggestions to make it work better.
while buying sodium nitrite on its own is not permitted, there's a curing salt called prague powder #1, that's 6.25% SN and the rest is salt. SN is liquid between 271 and 320 degrees celsius while salt melts at a mich higher temperature. if I put this mixture in the oven at 300 degrees, would I be able to extract high purity SN by waiting for it to melt and then decanting the liquid? theoretically, I see no reason why this would not work but I'd appreciate clarification from someone more qualified than me.
I'll do a test run with a small amount to see if it liquidifies properly and I'll update this post on the results, and also before I ctb I'll make a post and edit if I survive so you'll have some evidence of it working.
hope I can help you guys!

In air the free oxygen probably degenerated the liquid nitrite to nitrate.

Some of it would likely decompose. Also, be careful when handling hot salts.

Sounds like a fine and sound idea! It wouldn't hurt to try.

While the salt won't melt at those temperatures it will dissolve in the molten SN. Not to mention that SN decomposes at 320 C. Purification's of this type require a completely different technique for separation.

Buying is easy, but actually receiving it is the hard part, I got lucky and received mine on the third attempt (first two orders were stopped by customs)

Just remember; it's not illegal to buy or be in the possession of SN, it's a reportable substance, so companies can't sell to the public (without reporting it or ensuring a valid EPP licence is held)

I don't think it's going to work but if anything remember that SN isn't the only method on this forum.
