if possible i would very much like not to be found after i ctb, but i'm not sure what location would be best for this. my plan at the moment is to catch a train or coach to a town on the outskirts of a very large forest and journey far off the path until i'm in the middle of nowhere. given that police have recently failed to find a man hiding in the bush after a very high-profile murder case, i felt that the likelihood that they would look for me seriously or would find me was fairly low but i'm not sure

They would find it eventually but if you just expire in the middle of the woods you'd be a skeleton before they found you most likely.

depends on the area
that is if definitly no one goes there
there are professional hunters, campers, government environmental services and so on.
if you are reported as missing the police might piece together you went into the woods and start a search operation

that was my hope; i don't mind the idea of being found as a skeleton

Depends on how early they start a search for you but remember that most people that go missing in the woods are kinda lost even today

i presume i would be reported missing as i live with family and will probably want to leave a note and such. i plan to leave the train at an earlier stop than the one my ticket would be booked for but i presume i would still be seen on cctv or whatever. there are some very large stretches of bush reachable by train or coach in the early morning that i could get pretty far out into, but i may leave behind a track i suppose. if i tell people that i'm going on some sort of long trip, during which i won't be able to contact them for some reason or whatever, then i guess it may take longer for them to realise and maybe make me less findable idk. i'd check to make sure the general location isn't visited for any of those purposes, but i'd presume if it's very fair from any trail or track it would be fairly unlikely.
