Problem with using a plastic bag is that your body will start to panic over high levels CO2 and your SI will take over and you rip the bag open. Never heard of using plain salt as a way to die but probably not going work as more people would being using it.

I tried CTB years ago with large salt amounts alone and mixed with water, I threw up everything, had panic attacks and passed out for a few hours.

The bag one is possible but you'll need to be fast asleep or in a coma light straight for it to work .

You're likely to just throw up all the salt before you die.

It would be very difficult to suffocate youself with just a bag because your brain detects the CO2 buildup. What you can do to work around that is to pipe an inert gas like helium or nitrogen into the bag:

Although it's technicaly possible to die from consuming too much salt (or even soy sauce), it's a rare method and seems unpleasant and risky to me. A much more common and effective method is to drink a solution containing a highly toxic salt called sodium nitrite:
