My ex he was a taoist, generally energy that can be anything there was really no moral choice. He meditated a lot and when he left he was unafraid and successful.

How many years of meditating would it take?

He studied many religions and I think that's why he outed. But I don't think it would take years depending on anxiety levels.

This works for some people, but not all. It doesn't work for me at all yet, but I haven't figured out a way to meditate properly on a regular basis. I'm one of those people that cannot visualize in their mind so most guides are not made for me lol. But I have managed to do it more than a few times.

I think it's worth a try. A common misconception is that you meditate to silence the thoughts when that's not the goal. It's inevitable that your thoughts will race at 170mph in your head while you're trying to "clear your mind." You have to be okay with not only sitting with your own thoughts, but also hearing them all out and allowing them to just be thoughts. That's the scariest and hardest part for me. Good luck if you do attempt it. No matter how you flip it, daily meditation sounds like a good practice to me. But its not as relaxing as it sounds; if you're successful, the first few sessions may feel like you're fighting with yourself and they could be triggering.

Ohhh, you want to do it so you can ctb! I honestly don't know how to answer that, because I've never meditated for that purpose. But I think if you do it and really ponder on your decision and the reasons you want to ctb, it may strengthen your resolve. Or diminish it, if you have any reason/obligation to live.

The point of meditation is to assist you in deepening the understanding of your innermost desires, without the outside noise of others' opinions and societal norms. It's just you and your mind. Whether or not it will help you be more comfortable with the idea of dying is, imo, entirely up to you. Meditating is a really personal thing and I'm not an expert, sadly. :') But I still do think it's worth a try in any event, it's a good tool for clarity. Good luck if you do attempt to use it.

Short answer is a definite yes.
The point of meditation is to assist you in deepening the understanding of your innermost desires, without the outside noise of others' opinions and societal norms.
That is a point of contemplation. A very important one too.
I don't think anyone can succesfully meditate without having practised contemplation before. Everything that wouldn't have been dealt with /proccessed during contemplation would crowd around the mind attempting to meditate. That's just too much noise to deal with for a beginner.
