I have recently taken over a similar Discord server from someone else and it has been pretty straightforward.

I have also run my own Discord server historically (unrelated to SS).

I have chronic illnesses so cannot coordinate everything. For a server with lots of activities, members would need to suggest ideas and take initiative if they can. Otherwise, it may help to have several Mods as well.

However, I am happy to help run it behind the scenes, set up moderation and ground rules, post a check in 1-2 times weekly and create polls to assess what people are interested in. Let me know if this still needs setting up and we can organise it.

I'm currently really busy with universtiy (upcoming exams) so I won't be online 24/7 but I'd be down to help out with a server.
I've been a moderator and later admin (still am) for an online game and also moderate the discord server for the game so I do have a lot of experience and would volunteer to help.

I guess one could create a server and a few people set it up together to split the work. Then, when everything is done the server will open for every SS member.

That would be amazing! I think what you said makes sense, it's going to have to be a heavily community contributed place because we can't be coming up with all the ideas and running it 24/7. I've never set up or taken over a Server before so I'd love any help! :)

I have set a couple of servers up. It is not my intention to step on anyone's toes by doing this, so sorry if anyone else has already made arrangements. I simply felt it would be good to make a start. Having several people setting up their own servers could be a positive development anyhow, since no two communities would be identical.

I have set up two servers:

- One is for chatting, hanging out, activities (movies, streaming, gaming etc) and general support.

- The other is specifically for those with chronic conditions/illnesses.

Suicide discussion and venting about life will be permitted in both, but any mention of methods, sources or explicitly naming Sanctioned Suicide is prohibited to protect the servers and this space. There are various other categories too, such as music, pictures, art and a recovery resources section.

Before I post threads about them, it would be useful to receive constructive feedback on the rules, layout and channels, and to finalise these details prior to inviting more members. If anyone is open to having a look at either of the servers and making suggestions, please let me know and I will send you an invitation tomorrow.

It is likely that more Mods will be required on both servers too, but I am happy to get them started initially and recruit help when they are up and running, since I would want to spend time interacting with people before giving moderation permissions.
