I often worry about what happens after death. Do we have soul and are more than our physical body? It's impossible to be certain about what really happens. I'll share what I think, please share your opinions.

These are popular beliefs on what happens
i. nothingness ii. some form of afterlife iii. reincarnation

I personally believe its either nothingness or reincarnation. Cause if we do exist beyond our physical self then we existed before and took birth, so this should happen after our death. It mainly boils down to weather we exist beyond our bodies or we are just our brain.

There are some theories which suggest existence beyond our body but I would disregard these
i. NDE ( can be explained with hallucinations)
ii. People remembering past lives (memories we access now reside in our brain physically, so there is no way one can recall things from previous life)

But the fact that atoms just became conscious. And our consciousness just arose on our birth. Make me think there might be something more going on.

My biggest fear is reincarnating in worse life or as an animal. That life is going to be much worse than this one. Probably we just cease to exist after death. But this one is scaring me. This is my biggest fear of ctb. I take peace in nothingness.

What do you think? Please share. This is philosophical question. But this is really worrying me. Thanks for read!

Your questions and concerns are valid, and I, too, believe in reincarnation. The cycle I believe in progresses from birth to death, followed by a life review, then planning for the next life/lives, spiritual hanging out, and returning to birth. Typically, during the planning phase, you choose experiences that your past life did not encounter or that are necessary for healing and growing.

You mentioned concerns about being an animal; I think this stems from the human mind, perhaps from the fear of no longer being at the top of the food chain. Personally, I look forward to planning a life as a house cat.

I don't think I devoted much time or thought to planning this current life. When I CTB, I plan to spend more time in the planning and hanging out phases until I'm ready to embrace life again as someone more mentally stable and happy.

Again, this is just my belief regarding reincarnation, and I hope I have brought you some comfort concerning the afterlife.

There seems to be mostly atheists on here so you will probably get mostly answers that there is nothing after this. I think reincarnation could be true I'm not sure it's necessarily a punishment though they say our soul comes here to learn so we will have different lessons in each life

I'm a little worried what comes after this, I could reincarnate in a third world country or become an animal like you wrote. I think conscience came from somewhere before birth, so probably reincarnation or a blackout nothingness like being asleep.

Also, I saw an NDE and he said that suicides just go home to the non physical, so some kind of afterlife.

That is also one of my biggest fears but I don't believe there is anything after death. You just die and besides if you get cremated, can you still be reincarnated? I don't believe in afterlife so when I die, I want my body cremated.

Yeah, I'm one of those atheists previously mentioned, and what I can say is that I'm so very, very glad that I don't worry about things like this.

It's true that we can never know until it happens to us. But if it makes you feel any better, there is no proof whatsoever of the existence of reincarnation or any kind of afterlife.

In my view, in order of likelihood: nothing, some sort of existence after life, and a distant third, reincarnation. Based on all the evidence I've read I strongly believe it's going to be the first one. NDE's have been debunked largely, (and even if there's some truth to it they are not post death experiences they are near death experiences); past life regressions under hypnosis have been largely debunked as well. And the scientific explanations for reincarnation, if it exists, are scant and far from conclusory.

It's a good philosophical question though! If there's anything, we'll find out, but if there's nothing we won't find out because we won't be there to find out!

Can there be anything worse than a suicidal existence? Frankly, I think something better should come along, being suicidal is not exactly a prize or a good life. I don't understand why some religions or beliefs punish the suicidal instead of sympathizing.

No, I only worry about this hellish and cruel existence where there is endless potential to suffer and feel agony, having the ability to exist in this reality truly is an abomination. I believe death to simply be nothingness, an dreamless eternal sleep where all is finally erased and forgotten about, I only find comfort in death, I believe death brings true peace from what the true problem is which is existence itself.

I would hope so. Life is cruel, death should be peaceful. I wouldnt want to come back as me but worse. I wouldnt so much mind if i came back as dog but there would still be evil people out there who would try to hurt me.

I am a little scared of going to hell. Thinking it would be a constant, never ending physical and emotional pain... heat, thirst.
On earth I get to sleep at least...

You shouldn't worry about what happens after the same way that you don't worry about what happened before you were born, you won't remember what happened in this life just like you don't remember what happened all those years you weren't alive and the world kept spinning.

I loathe the idea of reincarnation.

So, I, in my full glory, have decided that reincarnation is not going to happen!

There, I just saved you guys some headache.

But on a serious note, it's probably better to not worry about the horrible 'what-ifs' too much.

Here is your answer. You can ultimately choose to believe or not to believe. But there is absolutely 100% nothing to fear.

If I were you I would stay relaxed, in any case we die anyway, and I don't believe that those who kill themselves have a worse reincarnation than those who die a natural death, let's say that I don't believe in reincarnation in the classical sense but more in a scientific way.

It seems to me there are a lot of threads saying similar things that they are afraid of the afterlife , or that they are worried about what could happen after death that they don't know.

There are many fields for example molecular cell biology that show what a human is , just cells , same thing as a mouse a fly, that first cell, a machine that thinks it's you . There is no soul no afterlife. There is no real education like for example "what are you?"

They have been working for hundreds of years in several scientific fields to determine what Life is , how did it originate, what a human is. Hundreds of years of experiments and evidence collecting . Hence you have the mature Fields of evolution, brain science, cell science etc. these experiments and evidence collecting built on top of previous ones. They further confirmed the previous findings

In all that time not a single piece of evidence for any afterlife, reincarnation, soul, simulation nothing

We don't know whether reincarnation is real or not but what we can say is that 99.99xx% of the world population doesn't know anything about their former lives. There are some reports (I have no sources rn) about people who claimed they have been reincarnated but it's a very small minority. I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Did you know the average male produces over 500 billion sperms in their life time??? Trust me....... mother nature does not need any of us to reincarnate (duplicate ourselves) in order for life on earth to continue

Just do a quick google search. 500 billion sperms per male............ once you die, you are done. Don't worry about reincarnation at all. To reincarnate, literally means after you die, your old brain/ soul is then going to be placed inside the head and body of a new sperm, replacing that new sperm's brain/ soul with your's....... how ridiculous does that sound??? lol

Mother nature simply can't handle that many reincarnations (duplicates)........... because it will be 500 billion, multiplied by another 500 billion, multiplied by another 500 billion.......... it never ends in that case

Our existence isn't important enough, for it to keep reincarnating and duplicating itself non-stop........ there are simply TOO MANY sperms available. Our existence is simply not needed anymore once it is gone
