Venting worried about getting SN

I've been seeing a lot of stuff about countries cracking down on SN and it's making me panic a little. I want to wait to get it until I'm ready to use it immediately so it doesn't get taken from me again, but I don't know if I can wait until then. Has anyone else had a similar experience with getting SN taken by police? How long should I wait before getting more?
