Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

The end of globalisation might be near.

Europa might retaliate with digital taxes on Apple, Meta, X, Alphabet. Europe does not like how they are regulated anyway. In case of X I think it might be better if it vanishes. Despite the fact I think in some instances it is quite useful.

Honestly, I don't know how to survive without YouTube. I love this plattform especially with ad blockers.

I don't know the details but maybe it would be enough paying for a VPN. I would upgrade to a premium VPN in this case. However, I assume they will find measures to prevent that from happening. Othewise everyone would Do it.

Europe is insanely dependent on US Technology. Personally, I won't boycott US products/corporations. And I doubt many people will voluntarily abstain from AI like ChatGPT.

It seems more likely we will find a compromise. But I would not rule it there might happen a division of the internet. Solely imagining that is really scary.

I don't think globalisation is going anywhere, especially not on the internet. There are always going to be tools that allow you to access site even if they are blocked in your country.

For now, but it could be eventually the entire internet turns into something where you need to link your actual ID to sign up for internet site in the name of child safety bla bla, and then they could easily gate off other countries as well and so forth through that.
Pretty sure I've already seen it drafted before.

Personally I feel the internet would spiral down. Like thanks to generative AI and tech I feel mainstream platforms would soon start filling with slop content. Big companies will collectively invest in building more and more of these robust models I feel in probably 10-15 years if the current big breakthroughs like something beyond deepseek or possibly AGI world is cooked. Like how antique watches is for the rich same way human made movies / art forms would become items of luxury and rest of us are filled with AI junk.
