With the current spotlight on SN- what do you think? In countries where it is currently at least legal- will it become even more controlled? I'm imagining that is what our governments will be trying to push through. What do you think? I wonder/worry how long that would take. Anyone legal here and in the know?

The way I see it- is- although suicide itself is now at least legal in most countries, a relatively painless suicide is still illegal because the means to obtain it quite often involve controlled substances. I suppose inert gas might be tricky for them to clamp down on but you can bet they'll be thinking of a way...

I think Sn will become illegal for households to own in the future. I wonder what that will mean in regards to those who have already purchased it & are currently storing it?

I mean can the authorities obtain a search warrant to take your stored SN away if you purchased it prior to it being made illegal?

Using America's nearly 14-year "noble experiment" in alcohol prohibition as a case study. The 18th Amendment only forbade the "manufacture, sale and transportation of intoxicating liquors"—not their consumption. By law, any wine, beer or spirits Americans had stashed away in January 1920 were theirs to keep and enjoy in the privacy of their homes.

Hope that is the case with SN in the future should be become illegal. But, I don't put it past pro-lifers to somehow try & enforce a law to take any existing SN away somehow.

These are my thoughts exactly.

I really hope that doesn't happen, for obvious reasons. Then we will lose one of the few methods that is not brutal and agonising. As you mentioned we would still have inert gas, so that would probably become the most popular. But that is trickier to set up.

No, it's already regulated where I live. They're only cracking down on a very obvious source.

I wouldn't be surprised if it will be. It's just disgusting how people wish to remove all reliable suicide method options and force people to suffer, not everyone wants to be tormented by old age. But sadly this is the reality and I think that the difficulty of suicide will only get worse as time goes on, it's all just further proof that this world is hell.
