The inert gas method only scores a 7 in peacefulness, but morphine and nembutal score 10.What's the difference?
SN is likely overrated to some degree too.
I know; I intend to take it and as such I'm just saying in terms of the sole criterion of "peacefulness" I'm not sure it quite merits the well-known rating of 7, or 7.whatever, regarding which consistency is an important principle in my opinion. For the record, I would consider a tolerable experience to be lower than 7 in fact.I don't think it's overrated; it has possible uncomfortable side effects in the first minutes yes, but once past that short time, it knocks out pretty quickly and is very effective. I believe the people who experience more discomfort (or even failure) don't follow the protocol, even if its not that hard to just fast and take antiemetics. Having benzos on top of that might give an upper-hand to those experiencing crippling anxiety though.
SN popularity is understandable because it was easier to source than a gun or opioids, and less stress inducing than hanging or jumping from a building for example. Even though it's not that easy to overcome SI and drink it, it still is a cheap alternative that many consider peaceful enough to CTB.
I'd divide all CTB methods into 5 categories: very unpleasant, moderately unpleasant, neutral, moderately pleasant, and very pleasant. The recommended way of using inert gas belongs to the neutral category, while morphine and nembutal may belong to the very pleasant category. It's funny to see SN rated the same as inert gas. Poisoning with nitrite together with following the recommended regime seems to be moderately unpleasant in the best case or very unpleasant if you're unlucky with how your body accepts it.The inert gas method only scores a 7 in peacefulness, but morphine and nembutal score 10.What's the difference?
This actually is a good metric. And what should be done is another saying how easy it is to get and setup in general.I'd divide all CTB methods into 5 categories: very unpleasant, moderately unpleasant, neutral, moderately pleasant, and very pleasant. I'd use a complex setup only for something like N2O or Xe at least - in order to achieve a moderately pleasant death. Dealing with gases like He or N2 seems to have a little sense for me.Like my choice is gas due to it being painless, but the setup is a nightmare.
I recall hearing the PPH authors saying that score had to do with some Exit members reporting they felt uncomfortable with the use of an exit bag. They also explained this as a part of the inspiration for the development of Sarco. The inert gas method only scores a 7 in peacefulness, but morphine and nembutal score 10.What's the difference?
Agreed. It seems the high peacefulness score with SN is due to the "happy hypoxia" when O2 intake is inhibited while CO2 is still able to be released, much like the exit bag.I don't think anyone considering the SN method is expecting it to be "pleasant". Nausia, headaches and vomitting are well documented and most people would consider such things as unpleasant. What SN has going for it is that it brings unconciousness fairly quickly and brings about death fairly reliably. Most people who on here who confirm they've taken, or are preparing to imminently take, SN don't come back.
