Maybe because these people don't overthink as we do ? The more you overthink, the less you do it. Goodbye posts are often written by new members.

Who says it's easy? Maybe they struggle for years to find the courage. I think most of us end up being suicidal for a long, long time.

That being said, we're all different. Impulse control, self-preservation, the state of one's life, how strong the suicidal urge is, and the method chosen will all impact how difficult each step is to get through.

they want to do it more or have something immediate pushing them to do it like homelessness or losing their partner. people that stay on the forum longer deliberate on their suicide more. it's also survivorship bias because the people that are still alive keep posting.

I have been looking to ctb for the last 2 months. (It's due to a really awful divorce, loss of my job, and a separate family crisis. I'm 48yo, and don't really have anything to look forward to for the rest of my life, except having to make payments to my greedy, abusive ex-wife from money I don't have.)

I've gone to several bridges, but SI keeps stopping me. Is this just how it's going to be? My life gets worse, but I'm too weak to ctb. Does anyone have any tips to help me go through with it?

Although some people struggle with suicidal ideation for a long time my personal experience is that evenually it might get better in the way that life feels less awful (although it can sometimes take a long time till life feels actually enjoyable again, sometimes it is first only less awful). If it only gets worse or not better at all (and better can also mean you learn to cope better, not necessarily your life objectively getting better) many people also eventually ctb. It just takes much longer than one would wish or think at first to overcome SI, because the amount of determination needed for this is quite high.

these people reached a mindset where they can easily attemp suicide with a reliable method at any time. I've seen many videos on Wpd people in which showed no hesitation no sign of si

the brain gets programmed every day by experiences , movies conversations etc

see eagleman' s book "the brain"

the brain changes slightly every day

so every individual is different

if I am wasting 12 hours every day watching YouTube videos , TV, news , social media etc . .... what am I becoming? nothing just a thousand different useless topics , very scattered brained confused as to what i am. is this youtube social media crap making me what I want to and need to be which is a suicider? no. I have to figure out what I need to read, think, hear and view to become a suicider

I think the way you're framing the question suggests an inevitability about the decision. I don't think that this is something that people "struggle to accept" and "procrastinate." I think it's something that people wrestle with.

Suicide is not the "right" thing to do. It's an action with serious consequences, not just for the person who CTB, but for other people. It's not something to do lightly.

I am planning on CTB within the next week or two. I don't have any judgement for people reaching that place. There are situations in my life that I have struggled with for many, many years that have left me without options, isolated, suffering, and trapped.

I have spent many years struggling to build a life anyway, and I have ended up completely broken with no life left. But I also recognize that my suicide will cause harm to people I care about. The stuff that I am suffering with and struggling with is beyond their ability to understand or help me with, but they care about me, and I care about them, and it's not how I wanted to be in the world. I would have liked to show up in a different way for people in my life, but I am way too broken now. It's just too late, and things are done, which makes the choice pretty easy at this point. I tried, and I failed, and it happens.

But this isn't something I think is "strong" or the inevitable, right choice. It's the only path forward from years of suffering. There's just no way out.

Your message here did hit too close to home. I think that you underestimated the power that you hold. If you're still thinking about those other who care about you then I'd say that you're not too broken to keep showing up in different ways for them. I don't know. I feel that when there's a will, there's almost always a way. I mean, the only way to go is not always forward. You can go up, down, right, left and shit.

Anyways, that aside, yeah I agree with you. I think it's something that we wrestle with. I wouldn't say it's inevitable either since people can change their mind or that circumstances can improve for them so that they have more time and space to pave another way around suicide as their only exit.

In addition to suicide being easier to some people, it most likely has something to do with their status quo. When you're alone, in debt, and in an environment where you feel like you're stuck in, it's hard not to see death as the only end of all of these predicaments. I'd like to think that we all have the same emotional threshold. What makes us different is the things that happened to us that shaped us.

I'm dealing with a chronic health condition that has physically and mentally almost incapacitated me at times. I'm broke, and I mean, I have less than forty dollars to my name, no income, a pile of debt. I'm about to be homeless. And I've been dealing with a stalker for years, which isn't as intense now as it used to be, but the damage is already done, it has isolated me and destroyed my mental health.

I am out of resources and out of options and mentally and physically broken. There's nothing left in me to try with. People who care about me are not able to significantly help me with any of this in any real way, and I've lost the ability to talk about my situation with people in my life, it's just so far beyond what they know or understand. I'm alone.
Ah shit. I'm sorry for coming here as insensitive. For this moment, I'd just read and not offer solutions like a fucking asswipe.

I just hope that this place helps you do whatever's best. If it's to leave with the bus, then let it happen without much tears for those you're leaving behind but if it's to stay, then I hope that things change for the better and you can find peace and comfort in your life.

Heres my take on this

A lot of people who ctb are in a hyper aroused state and it is spontaneous spur of the moment (not all obv) while others sit on forums and complain about not being able to ctb. My only previous attempt was spur of the moment while manic and around other people.

Its probably due to our fear mechanisms

I think asking "why are some people able to CTB so easily?" is a really big assumption.

Maybe it wasn't easy for them? Maybe those people spend a long time struggling with their doubts, and we just don't know that because we aren't in their lives. We don't know what they're thinking. They're just strangers to us & we're hearing about them 2nd or 3rd hand. There's really no way for us to know what they were thinking.

Impulse control, self-preservation, the state of one's life, how strong the suicidal urge is, and the method chosen will all impact how difficult each step is to get through.
summed up pretty well imo.
Many people also try non-methods and survive and I would assume then the next attempt gets harder (no experience, just an assumption which I'm not trying to test myself, as in trying to find a good method and be done with it).

As for myself I would CTB every day since weeks now if I had any safe (meaning it works most likely) method on hand.
But I don't. Only thing readily available is the train station 100m from here and that's not unlikely just a way to get myself crippled which would make any further attempts to CTB even harder.
