I'll never understand this, because why is it so shamed to go out on your own terms if you're suffering? (If that makes any sense) I understand it hurts people, and what not but I feel like people should start putting themselves in the shoes of the loved one and feel happy for them. I've lost people to suicide, and I felt a sort of relief that they're now done with their suffering. Even jealousy at times. They did it on their own terms also? They chose how they wanted to go out, and that may be better than it being a surprise because they can leave peacefully. In conclusion, people should start to try and understand why people really kill themselves other than, "they're just selfish". If anyone has a reason to as why more people don't feel that way please inform me

It's so ironic. People advocate for Freedom and your own choice over your own body, but when it comes to killing yourself it's off the charts. You get deemed mentally ill and you will be judged by everyone. Fucking pathetic how this world works

Because suicide is directly bringing to question the meaning and value of their lives and what they hold dear, like money, status, society, how could someone want to die when there's so many things to be enjoyed. Life and living better than someone else needs to have fundamental value or society will collapse.

Also because those that have not experienced extreme emotional pain just don't understand how it could override someone's desire to live. It's difficult to empathise with, this one I understand, as I'm sure most here were not suicidal at some point in their lives and perhaps found it difficult to understand at that time.

Also people take it personally, how dare you not want to live I've given you everything. Some people just don't know empathy.

Also I guess everyone's feelings and sanity is fragile, they don't want to be brought down, think negative thoughts about their own lives, suicide is by definition not life affirming, kills their positivity, which many needs to protect their own sanity, so they stay away, refuse to think about it, let it be someone else's problem

Also it's just not a popular opinion and people don't want to be perceived as bad people, or perhaps maybe they are themselves suicidal, peer pressure

I like to think when someone ctb the first reaction most people should have should be wow, they must have suffered, society really let them down, how come people around them didn't know, everything society is doing must be not working because numbers are not decreasing even though it is much harder to ctb. Let's not let it be another statistic and do some different thinking about this issue. Let's not let our own fears of social collapse and exhistencislism get in the way of actually really helping people in need, something needs to happen that is different, let's actually ask the people that want to ctb and actually listen to what they say for a change

we are born into this world without a choice. people find the "beauty" in life through superficial means. validation via social media, money, expensive items. it's all a mere distraction from the fact that no matter your status in this world, we will all inevitably perish at one point. if someone takes their own life, it's one less body performing menial labor to fuel the economy and line the pockets of those hoarding away the world's wealth. no one should have to stay where they don't wish to be. it's inhumane. people who are thinking of committing suicide may not even have a mental illness.

I think that people who look down on those who are suicidal ARE in fact selfish. They are crying about the loss, but they never came to help you, they never were interested in how you feel, never tried to make it better. The only thing they care about is how much someone's death hurts them but they have no idea how much suffer the person has been through

Because of the culture of busy-bragging, the harder you work the better a person you are, the more you suffer (for no fucking reason) the more respectable you are. Work harder not smarter. etc.

Likely religion. Hard to say one way or the other completely. Most of us have such overactive minds that it's the only way for the pain to stop. It's not like anyone would choose this constant emotional hell. Yet people that never experienced it see it as a sin. Ridiculous. Just my view though.

Because people are blinded by delusional beliefs, they don't wish to accept that suicide is a valid option as it shatters their delusions about the harsh reality of existing here. But anyway it's so absurd and completely irrational being anti-suicide in this world where there is unlimited potential to suffer endlessly, it's like many people forget that we are all just destined to die anyway and I think a lot of the stigma associated with suicide comes from the perspective of those left behind.

Other people don't want those they know to choose to leave so they call suicide "selfish" unable to come to terms with the fact that we all have our right to die and suicide is in fact a relief, it means permanent relief from suffering and the true selfish thing is to expect people to delay the inevitable against their wishes.

I took a psych class, your brain, doesn't want to die, it isn't normal for you wanting to ctb, am I saying these people are freaks no? Your brain is extremely confused and is suffering. That's why some people can ctb without SI kicking in. But psychologically talking, it's not normal wanting to ctb, idc tho I'm still going to ctb

Exactly. They're the fucking selfish ones. Unwilling or even maybe unable to empathise with our suffering, our desires. They expect us to be the ones to bend, to put up with this hell, rather than them adapt to losing a person in their life.

They're the ones that want to live, they should be the ones to put up with the consequences of someone suffering unbearably and wanting to leave this world. This world is fucking full of selfish people unwilling to take responsibility for a reality they helped create. Instead we're expected to burden the suffering that isn't our fault, that we have no control over. We're robbed of the freedom to do what we want with our lives, contrary to what everyone else is told they can do with all the other aspects of their lives.

It's fucking ridiculous. It's fucking sick and twisted. I can't stand this world. Fuck society
