Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.
This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

What is that?
Does twitter allow that? Shame on them.Yeah
Does twitter allow that? Shame on them.
I understand why, as I look at photos of self harm. It makes me feel less alone and being able to talk about it. I guess the down side is that it feels like a competition and I get darn envious of people who manage to go deeper and so then I go deeper, then it's a viscous loop.

I like videos about people popping black heads though In the face. I know I'm weird.
What's disgusting about it? Are they encouraging it? Or shaming the people in the pictures they post?
The competition is a very real issue.
When I was younger, I was sent to a DBT program because of self-harm. I have always been very private/discreet about it, and my scars are confined to places not visible to others. Outside of clinical settings, almost nobody knows that I've "been there". I was shocked at the quiet competition that went on in that DBT group... how invested certain people were in seeing my scars/injuries and showing me theirs (despite the fact that I was adamant that I don't show others, and that looking at others' fresh cuts was harmful for me).
Even as someone who doesn't share that mindset at all, it was hard not to get sucked in sometimes. They'd be flaunting things, presuming mine were less significant and that was why I wouldn't share, and I'd find some terrible part of myself looking and thinking "psh, that's child's play," or whatever. Then I'd feel absolute shit about it later. Not good.
Yup. I know there's subreddits like r/selfharm and r/selfharmscars, but they make me feel like shit because then I feel like I don't cut enough, the deep scratches and other methods aren't valid, I have no right to say I'm suffering because I don't have scars like them.I agree , dont visit SH twitter . Use a self-harm subreddit known as r/madeofstyrofoam , they are hilarious and affectionate community and do not promote self-harm.
It is what it is. I don't like judging as I was There™ once. Those people are in a very, very different world inside their own head, some even have full blown psychosis. It's best not to poke the hornet's nest and leave them alone, imo.
Beyond that, Western girls and women tend to be pretty tame about SH, from what I've seen. You should see the sort of stuff I've seen men and Japanese women on FC2 post. It's gut-wrenching.
I'll admit that I look at and post pictures of self-harm, but only on forums specifically for this purpose and not in communities that encourage or make light of it. I do it for attention and validation (it makes me feel heard and seen and I see it the same way as venting on here or elsewhere for support).
Competition and glorification are serious problems. Ultimately, it's up to each individual to be responsible with consuming this type of content and to determine if they are stable enough to see these types of things. I'm in favor of dedicated and regulated online spaces for self-harm pictures, but having them on such easily accessible and popular platforms like Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, etc. is certainly problematic.
I'm confused.... if you find it so disgusting why do you look at it?
(Genuine question, no bad intentions)
Me too!!!I like videos about people popping black heads though In the face. I know I'm weird.
