• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Why is it better to survive than to not?

I have never understood this.

If someone is suffering, and they want to end their suffering permanently, why is it "bad" for them to decide that?

Sure - they might be able to recover, but that's potentially years down the line and life will never be "normal", just "slightly better".
What if someone doesn't want that? What if someone is fundamentally not enjoying being alive and would like to no longer be?

Why must we force ourselves to fit into the societal expectation of surviving?
If we are truly free individuals, why are we not allowed to make that self-determination on when our own life should end?

It makes no sense. I don't understand people.

I do believe that should be/is each individual's personal choice. It is an insult with the implications of 'craziness' or that a suicidal person is flawed somehow. No one knows anyone else's pain, and shouldn't act as such. Xoxox.

I believe it can get better even to the "normal" state. Its just difficult I guess, for example even if I ever get ok, my memories will be there always.

It's just the prolife narrative that everyone should exist for as long as they can.
It doesn't matter how much you suffer. And that "It gets better". Maybe but not for everyone.

Is it better? I realised recently that if I'd ctb when I wanted to, end of last year, I would've saved myself a whole lot of shit. Even though I moved to another country, it's been pure hell. But would I have known this if I wasn't here now? No, but now I know that even though I gave up everything and tried all over again, nothing really mattered since then. It would've been okay to ctb then, as it is now. It's up to each of us to decide what's best and when it's time.

We are still the same person where ever we are. I'm always broken, that is my natural state. Fun times are possible, but it always reverts back to pain and crushing sadness.

Wanting to be alive is probably one of the fundamental parts of a lot of peoples lives. It's probably hard to understand why someone would not want something the vast majority of people are desperate to have. And the people who have survived, the message it gets better, it's easier on people to think that everyone can make it if they try than accept losing people they care about.

I understand as all I want is to never suffer ever again, I always find it so dreadful to suffer in this cruel, torturous existence, all I want is to be gone and I'd just prefer to not exist than be burdened with this deeply undesirable existence that just leads to decay and death anyway just to die in agony tortured by old age.

I could never see a point to this suffering and I see so much cruelty in how the suffering and torture of existing is seen as to force and prolong no matter what with no limit as to how much agony one can feel, it's just so horrific to me how many humans wish to make it so others are tortured in this existence for as long as possible against their wishes with no option to be free from the suffering on their own terms.

I've always pondered this. Perhaps I'm simply too nihilistic, but even if my life gets better and my mental/physical problems magically fly away, would it really matter if I died here and now? I wouldn't be able to remember any of it. We experience and remember nothing while we don't exist. Even if reincarnation existed, would it even matter if every life is contained only to its own experiences? In that vein of thinking, what makes reincarnation any different than the way the universe already assumedly works?

because people are self-centered creatures who think that there is a sole reason why every living thing exists, and that there is inherent "purpose" in all of us that's why we are birthed in this world. people love to believe that everyone has this big task to fulfill or to contribute to this world. someone wanting to end their life goes directly against their beliefs regarding that because they cannot comprehend how someone would want to end things without leaving a "legacy" or something else to imprint on this world.
