Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

literally everything is so expensive now. A grocery run for enough ingredients to cook meals for a week is around 60 dollars, buying meals is around 5 dollars but thenprotions are alway so tiny that i need at least three just to not feel hungry one hour later.

And insurance. fucking insurance. my job doesnt start giving benefits until after youve been employed for a full year and ive only been here around 7 months. i had to go to the ER after cutting myself and got hit with an over $1500 bill cause i have no insurance, and the follow up appointment to get my stitches removed and be prescribed zoloft was over 300. and a few weeks ago when i was feeling too sick to work cause i was trying to quit zoloft the clinic visit to get a doctors note so my job would get off my ass cost me over 300 as well.

And now my top right back molar is freling a little sore. I cant see back there well in the mirror, but feeling around with my finger and fingernail, i can feel a small scratchy spot, i think it might be a cavity. i swear to fucking god if i have to deal with a fucking cavity when i STILL have no insurance of any kind im going to blow my brains out.

Multiple reasons. It sounds like you are in the US.

First, in the US there are 2 parties: help care for the weak and be honest versus the strong survive and delusions of afterlife. The Democrats want to give people what they want and be honest and the Republicans know that being honest doesn't always work and sometimes you can't protect the weak and those making bad choices.

And so the main split right now is trans people. The Democrats want Universal Health Care and Trans people to not be treated like garbage, and Republicans want neither universal healthcare nor trans people to be treated well.

And so the US population is being given a choice: treat trans people well and have full insurance, or be cruel to trans people and don't get insurance and push up corporate profits more. But the US population is so religiously delusional and cruel that they probably will fuck themselves over because of this. They just are that intolerant and cruel to people who are born different.

And this is a repeat of the Kamela Harris / Trump situation: last election the US population was given a choice and in many ways the deciding factor was Mexican American voters, who as a block could have turned the election either way. And the question was: do you want a woman as president who also wants to be kind to trans people or do you want an anti-immigrant liar as president but he tries to be macho and is a guy? And most of the Mexicans voted for Trump who promptly deported as many Mexicans as possible and subject Mexicans to ongoing racist harassment by ICE. But as a community, they had a choice.

So the other issue is that global warming is reducing the carrying capacity of the planet. It's partly Iran and peak oil, but it's also just that if prices were lower, people would have way more kids, like 100% more, and then what happens in 50 years when the planet's agricultural output is 40% less? These are hypothetical numbers but prices are so high now in part because the amount of money circulating governs how many kids people end up having and the central banks are being careful with releasing it because otherwise more people will die of war and starvation in the future. There's not an easy way to get people to voluntarily have fewer children except making things really expensive.

So you have a combination: on the one hand, central bankers are aware of the price inelasticity of food and crop trends and so there rates are being kept higher and money supply is being kept slightly more tighter than people want and on the other hand, US people are making political choices to vote for candidates with less empathy for all because they are sexist and transphobic and they care more about that than health insurance.

You can go to a food bank even if you have a job also.

I'm sorry things are so hard for you right now and I hope they improve.
