Why I experience suicidal thoughts – The reality of my everyday life
My suicidal thoughts are not a cry for attention or a sudden whim. They are the natural result of a continuous, crushing weight of a life that feels impossible to sustain—mentally, physically, and financially.
The Inner Paralysis of My Diagnosis
Living with Schizotypal Personality Disorder has stripped me of my basic humanity. What medicine defines as "negative symptoms" is my daily torment:
My face remains a frozen, monotone mask even when I am dying inside (flat affect). My mind frequently goes blank, making it impossible to form fluent thoughts or sentences (alogia). I am crushed by a total lack of energy, often spending hours paralyzed in complete inactivity on my mattress (avolition and abulia). The world has lost all color, and nothing brings me pleasure anymore (anhedonia). Because human interaction causes me genuine psychological pain, I have completely isolated myself, closing off from everyone (social withdrawal). On top of this, my medications numb me to the point where I cannot even cry to release the pain.
The Environment and Family Dynamic
My living conditions offer no safety. I live in an attic room where the roof leaks, and during rain, water drips directly onto the mattress where I sleep. I grew up in a poor family where I have always carried the heavy role of the scapegoat. From a traumatic birth—where my head got stuck in my mother's pelvis—to the present day, my life has felt like a fight I was never equipped to win. Even now, while my family lacks stable housing, I am being pressured to take on a 25-year mortgage for a place that will never be mine.
Financial Despair and Physical Decay
Every day I force myself to go to a soul-crushing, minimum-wage job, which drains the last drops of energy I have. At the same time, my body is failing me. My front teeth are crumbling, and fixing them requires 20,000 PLN worth of treatments and implants. I only have 2,000 PLN. Losing my teeth and my appearance while having zero financial means to fix it robs me of the last bits of my dignity. The gap between what I need to survive and what I actually have is impossible to cross.
Why Death Feels Like Relief
When I think about suicide, it is a desperate craving for quiet. The constant pain of existing, the burden of poverty, the feeling of decay, and the exhaustion of my mental state have completely broken me.
My suicidal thoughts are simply a direct reaction to being completely trapped from every side.
Because of my alogia, cognitive exhaustion, and difficulty expressing thoughts, putting my feelings into coherent words is extremely painful and overwhelming. I used Artificial Intelligence as a tool to help me organize, translate, and structure my raw, unfiltered experiences. Every single situation, symptom, and emotion described below is 100% real and belongs to me—AI simply helped me give a voice to the thoughts I was too exhausted to write down on my own.
edit:
There is a bitter, painful thought that constantly haunts me: I often feel like I am somehow "too stupid" or too paralyzed to even end my own life. I genuinely look at my situation and believe that most people carrying this amount of pain, poverty, and isolation would have surrendered and commited suicide long ago. My inability to do it doesn't feel like courage or hope to me—it feels like just another failure. It makes me feel trapped in a limbo where I am too exhausted to live, but somehow too frozen to die.
