Context: I live in Canada.
I don't think I've ever been taken seriously by a doctor. Of any kind.
When I went to my GP for cream for eczema, he said, 'my son has it worse than you'. I was like 15.
When I broke my elbow they gave me a regular advil and nothing else. I was throwing up from the pain that night.
After falling on my knee really bad and causing lasting pain, as well as a dent in my kneecap you could feel, they rushed me through am xray and mri and said nothing was found and dropped me. I still have to wear a knee brace.
When looking for treatment for depression they said my grades were too good to be depressed and put me on a micro dose of an antidepressant.
When I was hospitalized for two weeks in a psych hospital, I didn't see a doctor until I was being discharged, no follow up or outpatient care.
Every time ove tried therapy, they push some CBT printouts at me and call it a day.
Why the hell should I trust anyone in the medical field?? My mom keeps telling me I need to get help but what help? No one wants to help me. They are literally paid to do so and they still do nothing.

"my son has it worse than you" WTF! Really? I can't believe my eyes...

I'm sorry you've had such bad experiences. Same here.

I've tried like 10 different therapists and I'll only say that talking to my dog and wall is more effective lol.

Ha! It's all a complete joke. I was basically verbally discharging at my parents for giving birth to me today and they kept wanting me to "get help" or to "get better". My own experiences with "hElP" has been a complete joke, I've written about it several times. There is no help, and there is no better. Life sucks and then you die.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time. Do you have to pay for healthcare in Canada? I live in the UK so we have the NHS (free at the point of access health service) so a lot of people struggle to get heard.
I was under the (perhaps mistaken) impression that people who paid for healthcare didn't have such issues with their treatment?

I am sorry that you and the pain you felt was not validated by your caregivers.
My mother didn't care when I broke my sternum and I had to force her to bring me to the hospital.
It is never a good feeling when people in front of you don't understand what you are feeling and don't take you seriously.
It is a pity but sometimes professional don't realize that we really need help until something bad happens.
Your mom is right. Keep reaching help if that's what you want. Anyway, we are also here to support you. Feel free to express your feelings.

So Canadian healthcare is free, with an asterisk the size of Jupiter. Canadian healthcare keeps you just barely alive. For example, if you have a dental emergency, its covered. But the dental care that could've prevented it? That's on you. About to ctb and you get caught? You're psych ward stay is covered, but meds and therapy (except psychiatry which is covered) that prevent you from getting to that point come out of you're own wallet. If you have health insurance with you're job then there's that too, but I don't have it and when I did they'd only cover $400 per specialist per year so I would effectively have 2 sessions with a therapist covered (as the recommended cost as per the college of therapists is $225/hour).

Honestly, if I was dragged into another doctor's office i would walk out the instant they pulled anything. I'm so done. Like, i dont want to feel the way i do and so i do want to get better, but theres only so much one can put up with before the diy way out becomes slot easier and more effective (and cheaper)

I can relate to this and I am so sorry you have had to deal with this. I have had bad experiences too where I live in the UK. Most people in the medical profession are completely unsympathetic. I have been told that my physical symptoms are all just in my head/a result of anxiety. I know other people who have had similar experiences. They just want to get rid of you as quickly as possible and it can be hard to get a diagnosis because of the way they are. I feel dread at the thought of seeing anymore.
