I had my Discord account deleted over the summer for terms of service violations, and it sucked. I lost all the servers I was in, all my DMs, conversations with friends who have since passed. I have no way to contact a bunch of people I used to know. I had a private server that I used for journaling, it's still actually out there, but I can't access my diary channels. My partner was the only other person on there and she only has access some of the channels & no admin permissions & Discord won't transfer ownership of a small abandoned server. Allegedly I was involved in the sale of restricted items (drugs), but I wasn't - I was merely on a server with a drug dealer on it, and someone reported that person/their servers to Discord. A bunch of my friends who were on some of the same servers also got banned. Most of the time they only ban the server owner and those actually participating in illegal activity, but sometimes merely being in the wrong space without participating can be enough to get your account banned on the platform.
ETA: The platform also recently added
some sort of built-in Crisis Text Line functionality.
