he most likely doesn't exist. people like to give all credits to god for the good in the world whilst ignoring the horrible reality of many people's lives. people themselves are the only capable of controlling their own inner thoughts, which isn't ideal but it's what we have to deal with as rational living beings

As above for the non-believers and free will for the believers.

If you accept a Supreme Creator of the Universe and the concept of heaven, with it's Day of Judgement, then God cannot involve himself/herself/themselves (delete as you wish) without messing with that decision.

i personally don't believe in a god. if there was a god, he would be extremely sadistic and narcissistic. IMO religion is just a way to escape the torturous reality of existing here.

Because god and all gods are mythology or mythology borrowed from earlier mythology, as is the case for Jews/Christians/Muslims.

This is exactly what I'm saying. IF he existed, he would be in fact a SADIST, that would be his only name. Because the existence itself is pain and suffering, and if you want happiness, you gotta struggle even more and more. It's impossible for some people because they got chronic mental/physical illnesses. Religion is an illusion and I'm actually jealous at people that strongly believe in god, because they think god always got their back. That's also the reason why almost all of the suicidal people are non-believers. And that doesn't mean god is punishing us for not believing in him, it's just that we are completely relying on ourselves and what's actually possible in the nature. Which is why we are weaker when it comes to hope, because we know that hoping won't do anything and so decisions like leaving this hell are being made. And we have every right to decide that this world is not for us, but the governments will do anything to make their slaves suffer till old age. Courage is the final key, the one that will set us free. It's just a matter of time before our patience runs out.

To me anything related to religion is just a fictional concept, I see existence as just being endless suffering and senseless cruelty all for no purpose with no reason behind it, I believe that religion is just something invented by humans who don't wish to come to terms with how meaningless existence truly is where we are destined to die and become nothing.

I don't think he/she/they exist. Even if "they" did exist, they must be sadists being how they can watch so many of their children suffer needlessly down here. The way I figure it, either way I look at things, either "they" don't exist at all, or thinking they're sadists, puts me in a bad way with them if they do indeed exist, so I'm doomed no matter what. Might as well just do what I want and get the hell out of here.

It's fate, god loves all their children, but he can't change their fate as that would disrupt the order of life and death, that's what I think

This really isn't true. Specifically the part about ignoring horrible reality. There's plenty of stories in the bible about horrible suffering and God letting it happen or causing more.

Source: I've been to church and read part of the Bible. According to religion God let's all kinds of painful things happen on earth.

Note: this isn't necessarily what I believe and I'm not saying you should believe either. Just don't mischaracterize religion. The question of "why does God allow evil and suffering" has been discussed for thousands of years.

Why doesn't God heal amputees?

Why does God allow babies to be born deformed?

Why does God allow millions to die in natural disasters?

Why did God create viruses and parasites?

Why did God create humans so we were susceptible to cancer?

Why doesn't God present himself to people so we know he actually exists?

Why did God only show himself to people back when there were no video cameras, tape recorders, ect...

I think the answer is obvious.

I recommend everyone here to look into the philosophy of Mainländer. God was depressed from existing and committed suicide by shattering himself into pieces, or the finite universe we are residing in. We all basically live on the rotten corpse of God.

All I can guess is that it's a test- a trial. Maybe we're supposed to just put up with all this suffering to show our devotion to God. That's the only thing I can think of.

The state of things seems to reinforce that also- think about how we have been designed to begin with and what things are forbidden. I'd say we are naturally prone to weakness- we are a species that desires things. That can lead us into glutony, lust, greed. We may even be tempted to steal. Yet- those things are forbidden. If God wanted us to have easy, peaceful lives- why were we created to even have wants that we're not supposed to fulfil? Why were we given sentience at all? When there is the possibility of deep suffering and sadness.

From what I can see, God prizes obedience over everything else. It's easy to obey if you're never asked to do things you don't want to do- or- you're not prevented from doing things you do want to do. Or- you're life is just easy. It's only a real test when life is difficult- yet you (somehow) still walk that 'righteous' path.

Personally- as for the God that is portrayed in many religions- I hope they don't exist. I don't like the idea of being a slave.
