Some of you may have seen that post I put where a guy said "No man's an island" and he tried to say that we all have friends. I was talking on Quora again about having no one to give me money and some guy said that he couldn't believe no one had friends and that I was mistaken.

Why is society like this? Why is it so unfathomable that an individual could have no one caring for them? Would they say "No man's an island" to a homeless person who wants to kill themselves?

This is why I assoicate life with narcotics and the people who like it with junkies. Only a junkie would ignore the reality of the situation. People are just too focused on the bright spots that they were lucky to get and ignore the bad to a point where they fool themselves into thinkng the world is all sunshine and rainbows.

It could be that they can't imagine someone in your predicament because they've never been exposed to it in real life.
Besides, the "argument" that people love to use against suicide is that it hurts the feeling of others. If you have no one that cares about you, that argument is useless. Therefore they will insist you're just lying. Have you ever noticed that in the few cases where people acknowledge that someone is truly alone, they also try to convince themselves that it's the person's own fault and that they deserved it? I believe it's their way of avoiding questioning their "just-world" worldview.

Quite valid points you're mentioning here, I think. I'm one such individual, actually. If I wasn't renting a room with room-mates, it would be weeks, (still could be weeks, I don't socialize with them) if not months before anyone noticed I was gone. And then it would be a tenant or a social worker awaiting response to practical matters. I am not sick, not even diagnosed with neither depression or sociopathy or anything. I am just alone. And suicidal.

Because we've evolved (and still continue evolving) as a species that highly relied on social interactions, the concept of social worthiness and expectations. When players are forever lost, the game can't go on.

'the game' stands for 'severe exploitation'.

Denial ain't just a river in Egypt :/ Does anyone else wish they could be a mindless drone who doesn't notice the atrocities happening around them everyday? Cause I'd take that deal at this point.

Unfortunately once you've been exposed to truth, you can't undue it. But I hear you. I totally miss my youthful ignorance. I'm in my 30s now and its been a LONG time since I cracked an indiscriminate, genuine smile.

I especially get this feeling as a veteran. Everyone love to ramble on and on about how much they support veterans, I get the "thank you for your service" bit all the time and it's hard not to roll my eyes. Nobody TRULY supports veterans. This incident proves that. And the only difference between me and this veteran is that I didn't have a match.

The truth of the matter is that nobody truly gives a shit. Not about veterans, and not about other people in general. They like to say they do because it makes them feel better about themselves, but they don't.

I asked a simple question pertaining to your ONE response that has these three quotes:

"I especially get this feeling as a veteran."

"And the only difference between me and this veteran is that I didn't have a match."

"The truth of the matter is that nobody truly gives a shit. Not about veterans..."

So again, what does this have to do with you being in US military?

Man, what is your problem? You are extremely defensive or outright hostile. You act like you are a 16 year old with a chip on his shoulder. Stop trying to clash with everyone. And just for the record, I went over the posts in your animal shelter thread, not a single person attacked you personally and you ended up saying everyone who disagreed with you was a dog fucker. We aren't your enemies. But that doesn't mean everyone is going to agree with you.

No you and the guy who believes he's divine because he's in US military are hostile. I really like/love a lot of folk on here. Get over yourself please. I'm not your enemy. Truth just makes people like you react this way. Its ok, but I'm your friend. The discomfort you're feeling, and the subsequent ad hominem attacks on me ("you act like a 16 year old") are because you don't like your most precious beliefs being challenged with irrefutable facts. But its ok. I'll be gone soon and I assume you will be too. But you need to think about what your reality really is.

What are you even talking about? What truths? What precious beliefs? Do you really think people are irritated with you because you have woken them up with 'irrefutable facts'? No, it's because you fly off the handle for no reason and call them dog fuckers. And then continue to attack someone on another thread because you are still pissy that he didn't agree with you. Lol.. man..

Or the fact that some people dont fo through what we are going through all at one time. Lose everything over night everything you love and cherish then get sick with cancer . Who can insure all that at once

Maybe LookMomImFlying really didn't understand the reason chronicpainnomore mentioned he is a veteran. I imagine veterans receive a lot more 'caring' comments from strangers in comparison to non veterans.

I was just commenting on the topic in a way that relates to me personally. He's acting like I'm somehow acting holier than thou by mentioning I'm a veteran. He's just being pissy because of the other thread and I'm done with him. I don't have time for his drama.

Because suicide looks bad on the public and they try to prevent others from killing themselves to save their own reputation.

"Yeah, we're a great community because everyone here is a happy and healthy individual!"

NO. That's not how it works! We don't get to choose who else lives and dies, we only get to decide that for ourselves! I wish suicide could be viewed less negatively in society.

People like to think that they are 'good' and that they are the hero of their stories. But to be honest, being good is HARD. Try volunteering for a while. Everywhere I look at the moment it seems to be 'rah rah rah humanity's so great' from stories in the news to TV shows that I'm following. The truth is that humanity really ISN'T great at all, but that doesn't make people feel good and might require them to put in some effort, so they prefer to stick their fingers in their ears and go 'lalalala'.
They know that they are supposed to care about people who want to ctb, and that they need to make sure we don't do it, because that would make them bad, but they also want to expend as little effort as possible to maintain that illusion.
I have a friend who's trying to not go bankrupt at the moment and he keeps getting this shit from people - they'll go on and on about how great his shop is and how bad they feel for him on social media, do they come in and buy something? No, almost 100 per cent never. He calls it 'virtue signalling' and it gets our goat.

I would never be able to live on the streets. I could never take any handouts. If I got to that point then I would not hesitate to take my own life. The one that I really can't understand is criminals who have been sentenced to life in prison and choose to live that way. As hard as it would be to take your own life in there I would definitely try to find a way.

I'm no American and this might sound rude but please don't take it that way. It is nothing more than just brutal honesty. If I was a soldier of any kind I would be ashamed of myself instead of thinking I deserve some respect and care. I don't see any reason to be proud when you are a contract killer of sadistic, corrupt, unemphatic pedophile occultists elites that you answer to.

I want to make it clear that I don't view my veteran status as a point of pride. I signed up to do a duty to my country and in the process of doing that duty, I got blood on my hands that will never wash off. But any country that sends their people off to do their dirty work owes them when that duty is finished. In America, there's lots of flag-waving and jingoistic bluster, but there is very little follow-through in actually caring for veterans.

Really, it's just one example of many of how society is all talk. Nobody really gives a shit if they don't stand to profit in one way or another. People suck.
